Schön im Schatten sitzend am bisher heißesten Tag des Jahrhunderts kam dieses Tor zu Ehren von vielen Mitsketchern meines Workshops am Wochenende gezeichnet zu werden. erst später fiel mir auf, dass die Form am linken Stamm eher wie ein an den Stamm genageltes totes Kaninchen denn wie Blattwerk aussieht ;)  Und das Eichhörnchen trauert um seinen Freund. So kann man eine Story erzählen, ohne es zu wollen.

Sitting comfortably in the shade on what has been the hottest day of the century so far, this gate was sketched by many of my fellow workshop participants over the weekend. It wasn’t until later that I noticed the shape on the left tree trunk looks more like a dead rabbit than foliage ;) And the squirrel is mourning its friend. That’s how you can tell a story without even meaning to.

Confortablement installés à l'ombre lors de ce qui a été jusqu'à présent la journée la plus chaude du siècle, cette porte a eu l'honneur d'être dessinée par de nombreux participants à mon atelier ce week-end. Ce n'est que plus tard que j'ai remarqué que la forme sur le tronc de gauche ressemblait davantage à un lapin mort qu'à du feuillage ;) Et l'écureuil pleure la perte de son ami. C'est ainsi qu'on peut raconter une histoire sans le vouloir.

5434 Willebadessen Schützenfest

Egal, wohin wir am vergangenen Wochenende gingen, es schien, als gäbe es überall ein „Schützenfest“. Bei dieser Hitze waren sicher viele „Sau tot“ 😉

No matter where we went last weekend, it seemed like there was a “Schützenfest” everywhere. With this heat, I’m sure a lot of people were “drunk as a skunk” 😉

Peu importe où nous sommes allés le week-end dernier, on aurait dit qu’il y avait une « Schützenfest » partout. Avec cette chaleur, je suis sûr que beaucoup de gens étaient « ivres comme des cochons » 😉

Am letzten Tag der Skizzen Tour 2026 waren wir im Ort Willebadessen. Klar, hier gibt's ein Kloster und einen Park.

On the last day of the Skizzen Tour 2026, we were in Willebadessen. Of course, there’s a monastery and a park there.

Tag zwei des Kurses mit der Burg Herstelle. Wir waren am bisher heißesten Tag des Jahres in Rheder (Schloss und Bruaerei und Barockgarten). Dies war - so glauben wir - die Mühle.

Day two of the course at Herstelle Castle. We were in Rheder (the castle, brewery, and Baroque garden) on what had been the hottest day of the year so far. We believe this was the mill.

Deuxième jour du stage au château de Herstelle. Nous étions à Rheder (château, brasserie et jardin baroque) lors de ce qui a été jusqu’à présent la journée la plus chaude de l’année. Il s’agissait, selon nous, du moulin.

Der erste Tag des Skizzenkurses mit der www.burg-herstelle.de verlief trotz (oder wegen) der Hitzewelle relativ gechillt. Ein leichter Lufthauch und ein Plätzchen im Schatten - so ließ sich das sketchen sehr gut aushalten. The first day of the sketching class with the “www.burg-herstelle.de” was relatively laid-back, despite (or perhaps because of) the heat wave. With a light breeze and a spot in the shade, it was very pleasant to sketch there. La première journée du cours de dessin avec l’« www.burg-herstelle.de » s’est déroulée dans une ambiance relativement détendue, malgré (ou peut-être grâce à) la vague de chaleur. Avec une légère brise et un coin à l’ombre, c’était très agréable de dessiner là-bas.

Heute bin ich wieder auf der schönen Burg Herstelle an der Weser. Der Blick vom Burgberg erinnert an die Landschaft bei Ménerbes. 

Today I’m back at the beautiful Herstelle Castle on the Weser River. The view from the castle hill reminds me of the landscape around Ménerbes. 

Aujourd'hui, je suis de retour au magnifique château de Herstelle, sur les rives de la Weser. La vue depuis la colline du château me rappelle les paysages autour de Ménerbes.

5428 Gartenkirche 32°C

Bei 32°C im Schatten war es unter den Bäumen des Friedhofes an der Gartenkirche mitten in der Stadt gerade so erträglich. Und dann gibt's noch diejenigen, die da ihr Zeichenzeug rausholen und skizzieren. 

With the temperature at 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade, it was barely bearable under the trees at the cemetery by the Gartenkirche in the heart of the city. And then there are those who pull out their drawing supplies and start sketching. 

Avec 32 °C à l'ombre, la chaleur était à peine supportable sous les arbres du cimetière près de la Gartenkirche, en plein cœur de la ville. Et puis il y a ceux qui sortent leur matériel de dessin et se mettent à croquer.

Ich habe noch eine Skizze gefunden aus Ansouis. Ach, auch schon wieder einer meiner Lieblingsorte in der Provence. Den Blick hier liebe ich sehr.

5422 Herrmann-Löns-Park

Heute war es im Dachatelier schon wieder sehr warm. Darum zog's den Maler heraus in die Natur. Mit genügend Mückenschutz ging es in den Park um die Ecke. Nur wenige Joggerinnen zogen vorbei als ich das Spinatbild malte.

It was very warm again today in the attic studio. So the painter headed out into nature. Armed with plenty of mosquito repellent, he went to the park around the corner. Only a few joggers passed by while I was painting the spinach picture.

Aujourd’hui encore, il faisait très chaud dans l’atelier mansardé. C’est pourquoi le peintre a eu envie de sortir dans la nature. Muni d’une bonne quantité de produit anti-moustiques, il s’est rendu au parc du coin. Seules quelques joggeuses sont passées devant moi pendant que je peignais le tableau des épinards.
