Rechts im Bild ist die Scuola Grande di San Marco (ehemaliger Sitz einer Laienbruderschaft). Heute ist dort der Haupteingang zum Ospedale Civile SS. Giovanni e Paolo di Venezia. Warum hören sich diese italienischen Namen immer so endlos an?

On the right side of the picture is the Scuola Grande di San Marco (the former headquarters of a lay brotherhood). Today, it serves as the main entrance to the Ospedale Civile SS. Giovanni e Paolo di Venezia. Why do these Italian names always sound so long?

Das letzte Mal (vor 4 Jahren) wohnten wir im Sestiere San Polo. Das Wort leitet sich vom Begriff "Sechstel" ab, da die Stadt Venedig in 6 Verwaltungsbezirke aufgeteilt ist. Wir wohnten hinter der Kirche in einem schönen Palazzo.

The last time (four years ago) we stayed in the Sestiere San Polo. The word is derived from the term “sixth,” as the city of Venice is divided into six administrative districts. We stayed behind the church in a beautiful palazzo.

La dernière fois (il y a quatre ans), nous avons séjourné dans le Sestiere San Polo. Le mot vient du terme « sixième », car la ville de Venise est divisée en six districts administratifs. Nous avons séjourné derrière l'église dans un magnifique palais.

Besonders der Rikschafahrer im Vordergrund hat es mir bei diesem Motiv angetan. Gibt es bei uns ja meist nur in "richtigen" Großstädten als Touristenbelustigung.

I am particularly taken with the rickshaw driver in the foreground of this motif. Here, they are usually only found in “real” big cities as a tourist attraction.

C'est surtout le conducteur de pousse-pousse au premier plan qui m'a séduit dans ce motif. Chez nous, on ne les trouve généralement que dans les « vraies » grandes villes, où ils servent à divertir les touristes.

Von einer einzelnen Schaufensterfront kann man hier ja eigentlich nicht sprechen. Eher ein rummeliges Sammelsurium von Dingen, Menschen und Fahrzeugen uvm. in Mumbai / Indien.

You can't really talk about a single shop window front here. It's more like a bustling jumble of things, people, vehicles, and much more in Mumbai, India.

On ne peut pas vraiment parler ici d'une simple vitrine. Il s'agit plutôt d'un bric-à-brac désordonné d'objets, de personnes, de véhicules et bien plus encore à Mumbai, en Inde.
