Ich lese gerade viele Krimis von Oscar de Muriel, die in der viktorianischen Zeit spielen. Einer davon (A Mask of Shadows) spielt im Theatermilieu. Darum hat mich das wohl zu diesem Porträt heute inspiriert.

I'm currently reading a lot of crime novels by Oscar de Muriel, which are set in the Victorian era. One of them (A Mask of Shadows) is set in the theater world. That's probably what inspired me to paint this portrait today.

Je lis actuellement beaucoup de romans policiers d'Oscar de Muriel qui se déroulent à l'époque victorienne. L'un d'entre eux (A Mask of Shadows) se déroule dans le milieu du théâtre. C'est sans doute ce qui m'a inspiré ce portrait aujourd'hui.

Meisenfrei war eine Kneipe in Aachen am Boxgraben, in der wir seinerzeit im Studium ab und zu waren. 

Meisenfrei was a pub in Aachen on Boxgraben, where we used to hang out occasionally when studying. 

Meisenfrei etait un bar situé à Aix-la-Chapelle, dans la rue Boxgraben, où nous avions l'habitude d'aller de temps en temps lorsque nous étions étudiants.

Heute in Gouache. Oh weia - das Medium ist leider so, dass es unbarmherzig nachdunkelt. Vielleicht sollte ich das nochmal nachbearbeiten.

Noch sind die Ströme und Bäche nicht ganz von Eis befreit. Des Frühlings holder, belebender Blick lässt noch auf sich warten. Abe man kann ja schon mal ein Ufer malen.

The streams and brooks are not yet completely free of ice. The lovely, invigorating sight of spring is still a long way off. But you can already paint a riverbank.

Les ruisseaux et les rivières ne sont pas encore complètement libérés de la glace. La douceur vivifiante du printemps se fait encore attendre. Mais on peut déjà peindre une rive.
