Now it's ready and done and I hereby declare this painting as being finished. As described, I usually deliberately leave the finer tuning a little less detailed. In the end it even makes sense - after a long phase of detailed tinkering around - to generously destroy a few of these details for the benefit of creating a better focus (i.e. to roughly overpainting some parts). I hope you enjoyed the little digression and you are interested in further "explanations" on medium-sized formats?
Maintenant, c'est prêt et terminé et je déclare par la présente cette peinture comme étant terminée. Comme décrit, je laisse généralement délibérément le réglage plus fin un peu moins détaillé. Au final, il est même logique - après une longue phase de bricolage détaillé - de détruire généreusement quelques de ces détails au profit d'une meilleure mise au point (c'est-à-dire de repeindre grossièrement certaines parties). J'espère que cette petite digression vous a plu et que vous êtes intéressé par d'autres "explications" sur les formats moyens ?

In the third phase I used transparent acrylic layers of paint to create a structure and a color composition. Everything visible has been created without white except for the spots in the blue parts of the sky and in the ground reflections. This state of completion is (in retrospect) the most subjectively pleasing version. Much of what I painted afterwards would not necessarily have been needed. But in the end, of course, you are always wiser ... The goal should always be that you can declare the painting in almost every stage as "finished". The desired status of the final elaboration always varies according to "desire", "time" and "demand". Especially the latter, i.e. a too strong demand on oneself or on one's own expectations can get in one's way. According to my own "80% rule", I usually try to finish my paintings at that stage. This leaves the viewer enough room to complete the "unpainted". And I myself thereby rarely miss the point to stop in time.
Dans la troisième phase, j'ai appliqué couche après couche peinture acrylique transparente, , pour donner à l'image une structure et une composition de couleurs. Tout ce qui est visible a été créé sans blanc, à l'exception des endroits dans les parties bleues du ciel et dans les reflets du sol. Cet état d'achèvement est (a posteriori) la version la plus subjectivement attrayante. Beaucoup de choses que j'ai peintes par la suite n'auraient pas forcément été nécessaires. Mais à la fin, on est toujours plus intelligent... L'objectif de la peinture devrait toujours être de pouvoir déclarer l'image "terminée" à presque tous les stades. Le statut souhaité de l'élaboration finale varie toujours en fonction de "l'envie", du "temps" et de "l'exigence". C'est surtout ce dernier point, c'est-à-dire une trop grande exigence vis-à-vis de soi-même ou de ses propres attentes, qui peut se mettre en travers de la route. À propos de ma "règle des 80%", j'essaie de terminer mes tableaux. Cela laisse au spectateur une marge de manœuvre suffisante pour compléter ce qui n'a pas été peint. Et je rate ainsi moins souvent le moment d'arrêter à temps.

In the second part of the painting's creation I applied a few color areas thanks to transparent (i.e. non-opaque) colors. Everything was still painted with the "sponge". But now please do not call me Sponge Bob! You can see quite well that the first applied "black" underpainting continues to shine through. You can also see the pencil underpainting still peeping through, for example, in the sky.
Dans la deuxième partie de la création de la peinture, j'ai appliqué quelques zones de couleur grâce à des couleurs transparentes (c.-à-d. non opaques). Tout était encore peint avec la "sponge". Mais maintenant, s'il vous plaît, ne m'appelez pas Bob l'éponge ! Vous pouvez voir assez clairement que la première couche de peinture "noire" appliquée continue à briller à travers. Vous pouvez également voir la sous-couche au crayon qui continue à percer, par exemple dans le ciel.

Today I prepared all the equipment in the new studio for the first time for a film shoot. The wiring and setup took about 4 hours until finally everything was illuminated as expected. The first section of the painting shows the priming of the canvas with yellow ochre. Then the motif is roughly laid out with the pencil according to my pre-sketch. The next step is to mix the darkest shade (aka "black") from the three primary colors yellow, red and blue. The important thing here is to choose the right pigments contained in the colors. Y35 would be the right yellow (cadmium yellow) - but here I use the cheaper variant PY79+PY98 mixed ("cadmium yellow hue"). As red, only PR112 (cadmium red) and PB in the form of phthaloblue come into question. You can see it as a small pile mixed to black on the auxiliary trolley in front. Aujourd'hui, j'ai préparé tout l'équipement dans le nouveau studio pour un tournage de film. Le câblage et l'installation ont pris environ 4 heures jusqu'à ce que finalement tout soit éclairé comme prévu. La première partie du tableau montre l'apprêt de la toile avec de l'ocre jaune. Ensuite, le motif est tracé grossièrement au crayon selon ma pré-esquisse. L'étape suivante consiste à mélanger la nuance la plus sombre (alias "noir") des trois couleurs primaires jaune, rouge et bleu. L'important ici est de choisir les bons pigments contenus dans les couleurs. Y35 serait le bon jaune (jaune de cadmium) - mais ici j'utilise la variante moins chère PY79+PY98 mélangés ("cadmium yellow hue"). Comme rouge, seuls le PR112 (rouge cadmium) et le PB sous forme de phtaloblue entrent en ligne de compte. Vous pouvez le voir comme un petit tas mélangé au noir sur le chariot auxiliaire à l'avant. For today there are a few preliminary exercises to a slightly larger format. This will be then realized in acrylic on 60 x 80 cm. First of all, a few simple studies on the subject and the composition (below). Then follows a simple pencil sketch for approaching the then selected sketch (top).
