Beim Übersetzen ins Englische, lerne ich immer wieder neue Vokabeln dazu. 
Heute: Feuertreppe heißt escape stairs. Oder auch fire stairs.

Vor einigen Jahren war es noch eine Ruine. 

Nun ist es ein schmuckes renoviertes Haus. 

Als Ruine ist es aber zum Malen interessanter.

Factory Owner's Villa

A few years ago it was a ruin. 

Now it is a charming renovated house. 

As a ruin but it is more interesting to paint.

1468 Emmichplatz Plein Air

Das sind die Überreste des "Neuen Hauses", eines Konzertcafés am Rande der Eilenriede. Im Krieg wurde das Haus stark beschädigt. Beim Neubau der Musikhochschule 1970 wurde es dann so als Teilruine belassen. Leider war der andere interessante Blickwinkel zu sonnig zum Malen. Darum ist es nun eine eher undynamische dreigeteilte Ansicht geworden. 

These are the remains of the "New House", a concert cafe on the edge of the Eilenriede Forest. During the war the house was heavily damaged. In 1970, when the new Music Academy was constructed, some ruins remained in front of it. Unfortunately, the interesting point of view was too sunny for painting. That is why it has become a rather non-dynamic three-parted view.

The Sketch

Auch gestern trieb es mich wieder zum Malen in die Mittagshitze nach draußen.

Diesmal war das hochmoderne Neuro Science Institute mit dahinter stehendem Fernsehturm TeleMax mein Motiv. Das Gebäude hat eine ganz lustige Form, die an ein Gehirn erinnert. Davor in alter Funktion ein Telegrafenmast von anno dazumal.

Yesterday I went painting again outside into the high noon heat of the Neuro Science Institute. Behind its's the TV Tower Telemax. and in front of this highly technical stuff you'll find an old fashinoned telegraph pole.

Das Hannover Kongress Centrum wird gerade innen umgebaut. 
Außen sieht es aber noch sehr genau wie früher aus: 
Trutzig und mit großer Kuppel. Schön zum Malen eben.

The Hannover Congress Centrum is just beeing remodeled inside. Outside it looks still very accurate: Defiant and with a large dome. Beautiflly to paint though.

Gleiches Motiv wie gestern in anderer Technik zum direkten Vergleich. Dass unter der Kuppel ein Kino ist, hatte ich schon irgendwann mal in diesem Blog erwähnt.

She: »Well, then at least get rid of the old rubble out of the driveway.«

Jedes Jahr zu Pfingsten ist in ganz Deutschland Mühlentag. Dann kann man viele Mühlen besichtigen und es gibt Fress- und Verkaufsstände und meist sehr viele ehrenamtlich Tätige, die alles erklären und Spaß daran haben. Ich habe uns zum Malen prompt eine geschlossene Mühle ausgesucht. Bei den anderen, die ich besichtigt habe, hatte es noch geregnet. Danach gings ins herrliche Storchencafé in Estorp.

Mill Day 2015

Every year at Pentecost it's »Mill Day« throughout Germany. You can visit many mills and usually a lot of volunteers enjoy explain everything. I promptly picked us a closed mill to paint. It was raining, when I visited some others before. After the working part, I had a coffee and cake in the beautiful Stork Café in Estorp.

Noch ein letzter Nachzügler aus dem Venedigurlaub. Ihr seht, ich war fleißig. Rote Häuser gibt es in Venedig natürlich viele, aber diese fand ich besonders schön.

One last straggler from my vacation in Venice. You see, I've been busy. Of course, there are plenty of red houses in venice, but these are particulary beautiful.

Ein weiteres Aquarell, welches ich en plein air in der Serenissima gemalt habe. Serenus bedeutet heiter, gelassen und ruhig und das beschreibt unsere Malwoche in Venedig doch exakt! Vom Campo San Stin aus haben wir die Wahlplakate der kommenden Kommunalwahl bewundert. 
Okay, und die Kirche. Die Basilika ist der größte gotische Sakralbau von Venedig. 
Ich habe extra 'ne Katze und aus Versehen ein Nilpferd reingemalt. Na, gefunden?

Another plein air watercolor from the Serenissima. This term is also used for Venice. Serenus means serene, calm and relaxed. And that describes exactly what our painting week in Venice was about. From the Campo San Stin, we admired the posters of the upcoming local elections. Okay, and the Church. The Basilica is the largest gothic religious building in Venice. I intentionally painted a cat and accidentally inserted a hippopotamus.

Hier habe ich einmal bewusst die Sprenkel, die ich sonst nur im Aquarell mache, auf den Himmel übertragen. Die restliche Malweise ist auch eher unüblich für mich, aber schließlich muss man experimentieren, um weiterzukommen.

Unten noch ein Bild von meinem Workshop für Künstler am Samstag in der Kunstfabrik Hannover. Hier habe ich an einem halben Tag aufgezeigt, worauf es bei einer Webseite für Künstler ankommt. 

1343 Ruined Monastery on the Île de Ré

I deliberately transferred the speckles which I usually only do in watercolors to the sky. The rest of the painting is also rather unusual for me, but you have to experiment a lot to make progress.

Dort hat sich unsere Malgruppe vorm Regen geschützt.

Nach dem Artikel in der HAZ wurden wir sogar schon on location "erkannt" ;)

Preparations and Painting - Vorbereitungen und Malerei

Als Jahres-End-Aktion und besonderes Highlight hatten wir am Mittwoch enormen Spaß in der Sketchygruppe beim Malen eines großen Hannover-Bildes. Es zeigt einige Bauwerke und Wahrzeichen des hippen Stadtteils Linden, der nächstes Jahr 900 Jahre alt wird. Das Bild wurde ein 1 x 4 Meter großes Aquarell. 

»Die Ruhmreichen Sieben minus Eine« haben es gemeinsam geplant, gezeichnet, gemalt und innerhalb sagenhafter Rekordzeit von nur 3 Stunden fertiggestellt.

Painting Linden

On Wednesday, I had great fun with the sketching guys while painting a large watercolor picture. It shows some monuments of the Linden-Hood. 

The image measures 3.3 x 13 feet. We, »The Glorious Seven while One's missing« have planned, drawn, painted and finished the piece in the new world record time of 3 hours.
