Das erste Bild nach Foto aus dem Urlaub. Zum Beweis noch das Original (ausnahsweise), sonst glaubt mir keiner, dass die Leitungen dort in Wirklichkeit noch wirrer verlaufen.

Kurseindruck Workshop Witten 

Gestern gab ich meinen ersten Kurs bei boesner in Witten. 10 nette, begabte und fleißige Teilnehmer/innen malten viele schöne Bilder. (Okay, was sonst?) Die Tomate diente als eine der kleinen Vorführungen.

Yesterday was my first workshop at boesner in Witten. 10 nice, talented and hardworking kids painted many beautiful pictures. (Okay, what else?) The tomato servesd for a short demonstration.

Heute endet nun leider meine Frankreichreise. Es waren drei sehr schöne und entspannende Wochen. Jedoch die Rückfahrt war lang und es gab wenig Muße zum Malen auf der Autobahn. Daher folgt zum Abschluss ein weiteres Bild von den Dentelles de Montmirail.

Today my holidays in France are ending (sigh). It had been three very beautiful and yet relaxing weeks. The way back was long and there was little time for painting on the Autobahn.Therefore here's another painting from Dentelles de Montmirail.

1516 Brignoles

Der Blick vom geschichtsträchtigen Café de l'Universe aus.

Die Stadt Brignoles ist eher ein Verkehrsknotenpunkt, als ein touristisches Highlight. Vielleicht hat sie uns gerade deswegen so gut gefallen. Sie liegt auf dem Rückweg nach Hause (rabuähh!) und wir haben im "berühmten" Café de l'Universe auf dem Marché du Saveurs einen leckeren Salat gegessen und einen Café getrunken. Das scheint der Urlaub der Erzähler zu werden; jedenfalls hat uns der Besitzer die spannende Geschichte des 200 Jahre alten Cafés genau erzählt und gezeigt, wo die Pistolenkugel in die Decke eingeschlagen ist, bei der Jagd auf Widerständler während der Résistance. 

The city of Brignoles is more kind of a traffic junction than an touristic attraction. Maybe that's why we loved it anyway. It lies on our way home (sigh). We had a delicious salad in the "famous" Café de l'Universe on the Marché du Saveurs and a good Café Latte. It seems to become the holidays of the narrators... The owner told us the exciting history of the 200 year old café and showed us, where the bullet has hit the ceiling in the hunt of resistance fighters during the German occupation of France.

Die alte Zisterzienserabtei haben wir am Morgen besichtigt, als der Himmel noch bedeckt war. Während des Malens kam dann die Sonne heraus. Eine alte sehr einfache und "schmucklose" romanische Anlage aus dem 12. Jhd. Aber, wie so oft: "Weniger ist mehr".

We visited this old Cistercian abbey in the morning and the sky was still overcast. While painting the sun came out. The buildings are very "simple" and "plain" romanesque buildings from the 12th century. But, as often "less is more".

In Tourette-sur-Loup

In Le Thoronet beim Aperó

Heute eine kleine Tour von Tourette-sur-Loup nach Le Thoronet gemacht. Zwischenstopp in Valbonne (ohne Skizze, sorry). Morgen geht es dann ins Kloster. Aber nur als Besucher. 

Today I made a small tour from Tourette-sur-Loup to Le Thorone. Stopover in Valbonne (without sketch, sorry). Tomorrow we will visit the monastery.

Mitte Oktober in Kurzarm um 18 Uhr! 

Der Ort ist wohl einer der beliebtesten und schönsten von Frankreich. Hier gibt es zahllose Galerien und selbst jetzt im Oktober ist es rammelvoll. Wie mag das nur im Sommer hier zugehen? Wir haben uns zum Sonnenuntergang ein ruhigeres Fleckchen gesucht und ich habe ein nicht ganz so bekanntes Motiv gefunden.

The is probably one of the most popular and most beautiful places of France. Here are countless galleries and even now in October, it is crowded as hell. How might this be here in summer? We were looking for a calmer spot at sunset

1512 Saint Jeannet

Nun sind wir in einem schönen Chambre d'Hôtes in Saint Jeannet. 

Die Häuser der Stadt sind unterhalb des Baou geklemmt und es geht recht gemütlich zu. "Zu" sind dann auch sämtliche Restaurants des Ortes.

In der Bar gibt es aber noch Flüssignahrung.

Einige Kinder sind sehr interessiert an meinem Skizzieren und helfen mir beim Finden der richtigen Farben. Sie dürfen am Ende natürlich signieren.

Now we are in a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in Saint Jeannet.

The houses are clamped below the Baou and everything is relaxed and sleepy.

So all the restaurants of the town are ckosed already or hibernating.

In the bar we found some liquid food.

Some children are very interested in my sketching and help me to find the right colors.

They must sign the painting too of course.

Am Mittelmeer angekommen, erfreuen wir uns in der kleinen Stadt an der Calanche an der südfranzösischen Hafenatmosphäre.

Arriving at the Mediterranean Sea, we rejoice the atmosphere of this small town on the French Riviera.

Le mise en place

So hieß der Ort, den wir kurz vorher durchfahren haben. 

In der Nähe gibt es viele Weinberge und Winzerorte. 

Von den Unwettern an der Côte d'Azur haben wir nichts mitbekommen.

Hier scheint schon wieder die Sonne.

That was the name of the place we have passed through shortly before.

Nearby there are many vineyards and wine villages.

From the bad weather on the Cote d'Azur, we have not heard anything.

Here the sun is shining again.

Gestern, am obligatorischen Regentag, fuhren wir nach Cucuron. 

Hier wurden u.a. auch Teile des Filmes "Ein gutes Jahr" mit Russel Crowe gedreht (Regie: Ridley Scott). Aus den Zimmerfenster gab es dann den Blick aufs heutige Motiv.

Yesterday was our obligatory rain day, we drove to Cucuron. 

Here, parts of the film "A Good Year" with Russell Crowe were shot (director: Ridley Scott). From the bedroom window I had the view to my daily painting.

Beim Umherfahren sind wir auf das Örtchen Blauvac gestoßen, wo es dann für mehrere Stunden mit Skizzieren und Malen weiterging. Eigentlich wollten wir doch noch weiterfahren...Übrigens, natürlich hat auch Blauvac ein Schloss.

Driving around we found the village of Blauvac, where I sketched and painted for several hours. Actually we wanted to make a longer tour throughout the landscape...

FYI, Blauvac -of course- has a castle too.

Ein Ort in der Nähe mit einer mittelalterlichen und Renaissance-Altstadt hat es mir gestern angetan. Hier der Blick in eine der Seitengassen am alten Schloss.

A place near a medieval and renaissance town was my choice yesterday.

Ein schönes Haus direkt im Park von L'Isle sur-la-Sorgue, der Stadt mit den meisten Antiquitätenläden in ganz Frankreich. Sind nun eine Woche in Velleron in einem schönen Ferienhaus dans la Provence. Gestern Abend mit super Sonnenuntergang.

A beautiful house right in the park of L'Isle sur-la-Sorgue, the city with the most antique shops throughout France. For a week we're now in Velleron in a beautiful house dans la Provence. Yesterday evening with a super sunset.

Ein weiterer schöner Tag in Arles. Seit 2.000 Jahren steht diese Arena nun schon hier. Unglaublich. Brot und Spiele. Und der Tourismus boomt immer noch.

Another beautiful day in Arles. For 2.000 years, this arena is still standing here. Unbelievable. Bread and games. And tourism's still booming.

1500 Dentelles de Montmirail

Die "Saraszenenzähnchen" nennen nicht nur wir diese Gebirgskette immer gerne.

Schon richtig in der Provence. Und immer gerne gesehen, gemalt und bewandert. 

Natürlich bei Superwetter ohne die kleinsten Wölkchen. 

Ein gelungenes kleines Jubiläum (1.500 Bilder!).

We're used to call this mountain range the "Sarascen Teeth".

Which are right in the French Provence. We're always lucky to see, paint and walk here. 

Of course, great weather without the smallest cloud. 

A successful small jubilee (1.500 paintings!).

Im Park der Domaine - In the park of the Domaine

Wir sind in Malaucène, einem umtriebigen Ort am Fuße des Mont Ventoux. Hier bereiten sich viele Radfahrer auf die schwierige Bergtour auf den Gipfel des 1.912 Meter hohen Berges vor. Ich sitze dann lieber im Hotel-Park und male eine schöne Ansicht der ehemaligen Seidenspinnerei-Fabrik.

We are in Malaucène, a bustling town at the foot of the Mont Ventoux. Many cyclists are preparing for the difficult mountain tour to the summit of the 1.912 m high mountain. I prefer to sit in the hotel park and paint.
