Gestern war der erste Tag meines Daily Painting Workshops auf der schönen Burg Herstelle. Üblicherweise starten wir mit "einfachen" Stillleben von Gemüse oder Obst. Diesmal waren die Äpfel aus dem eigenen Garten das Motiv. Aber was heißt schon "einfach"?

Yesterday was the first day of my Daily Painting workshop at the beautiful Castle Herstelle. Usually we start with "simple" still lifes of vegetables or fruit. This time the apples from our own garden were the motif. However, what does "simple" mean?

La première journée de mon atelier quotidien de peinture s'est déroulée hier dans le magnifique château de Herstelle. Habituellement, nous commençons par des natures mortes "simples" de légumes ou de fruits. Cette fois, les pommes de notre propre jardin en étaient le motif. Mais que signifie "simple" ?

Am Sonntag fand bei herrlichstem Oktoberwetter um die 28°C unser USK-Treffen am Steintor in Hannover statt. Wir hatten wohl an die 40 Teilnehmer. Great!

On Sunday our USK-meeting took place at the Steintor in Hanover with most marvellous October weather about 82°Fahrenheit. We had probably about 40 participants. Great!

Dimanche, notre rendez-vous de l'USK s'est passé au Steintor à Hanovre avec le plus beau temps d'octobre, environ 28°C. Je suppose que nous avions environ 40 participants. Super !

Irgendwas gibt es ja immer zu feiern. In Frankreich auch ein Grund, die Fahnen rauszuholen. Auch die Sackgassenschilder feiern in den Landesfarben blau-weiß-rot.

There's always something to party about. In France this is always a reason to get the flags out. Also the dead end signs celebrate in the national colours blue-white-red. 

Il y a toujours quelque chose à fêter. En France, c'est aussi une raison pour retirer les drapeaux. Aussi les signes d'impasse célèbrent dans les couleurs nationales bleu-blanc-rouge.

Gestern mit den Mittwochssketchies auf dem Rathausturm gewesen zum Skizzieren. Die Fahrt mit dem Schrägaufzug ist spaßig und die Aussicht auf die Stadt spektakulär.

Yesterday I went sketching together with the Wednesday Sketchers Group onto the town hall tower. The ride with the inclined elevator is fun and the view over the city spectacular.

Ein Blick die Treppe herauf und ins Licht. In reduzierten Farben wird es nicht ganz so chaotisch, wie in Wirklichkeit. Am wichtigsten waren mir die Internet(?)-Verteilerboxen.

A look up the stairs and into the light. In reduced colours it is not quite as chaotic as in reality. Most important to me were the Internet(?) distribution boxes.

Un regard en haut des escaliers et vers la lumière. En couleurs réduites, il ne devient pas aussi chaotique qu'en réalité. Le plus important pour moi, ce sont les boîtes de distribution Internet(?).

Dieses Wochenende findet der Workshop meines Freundes Niko von der Assen in der Kunstfabrik Hannover statt. Das Motiv, was er dort gestern malte hat auch mich direkt angesprochen. So habe ich es gleich auch einmal (allerdings in Acryl) versucht.

Über Saint Remy, wo nahebei Van Gogh in der Klapse weilte wurde schon (aus diesem Grund) von anderen viel berichtet. Nun sind hier täglich Tausende Touristen unterwegs zum Markt oder auf den Spuren des Ohrabschneiders. 

About Saint Remy, where near Van Gogh stayed in the loony bin, there have been many reports (for this reason) from others. Now there are thousands of tourists daily on their way to the market or in the footsteps of the ear cutter. 

A propos de Saint Rémy, où Van Gogh a séjourné dans l'asile de fous, il y a eu de nombreux rapports (pour cette raison) d'autres. Aujourd'hui, des milliers de touristes se rendent chaque jour au marché ou marchent sur les traces du coupe-oreilles.

Gestern ein ruhiger Maltag in Velleron. Eigentlich unspektakulär aber doch sehr schöne Straßen und Häuser. Wenig touristisch und sehr persönlich. Zum Beispiel lernten wir Tatayet kennen, den lustigen Hund einer Belgierin, die dort in einem der gemalten Häuser lebt.

Yesterday a peaceful painting day in Velleron. Actually unspectacular but nevertheless very beautiful streets and houses. Hardly touristy and very personal. For example, we got to know Tatayet, the funny dog of a Belgian woman who lives there in one of the painted houses.

Hier une journée tranquille de peinture à Velleron. Des rues et des maisons peu spectaculaires mais néanmoins très belles. Peu touristique mais très personnel. Par exemple, nous avons rencontré Tatayet, le drôle de chien d'une Belge qui vit dans l'une des maisons peintes.

Heute wehte der Mistral mit bis zu 160 km/h und wir machten einen Ausflug ins Rhonetal. (Später erfuhren wir, dass er dort am meisten weht.) Die Ruine des Schlosses der Päpste von Avignon gab der Stadt der bekannten Rotweine seinen Namen. Die guten Jahrgänge liegen schon etwas zurück. 2010 gab es hier den letzten "großen" Jahrgang. 

Today the Mistral blew with up to 100 mph and we made a trip to the Rhone valley. (Later we learned that it blows there the most.) The ruin of the castle of the popes of Avignon gave its name to the city of the well-known red wines. But the good vintages are a little back. The last "great" vintage was in 2010. 

Aujourd'hui, le Mistral a soufflé jusqu'à 160 km/h et nous avons fait un voyage dans la vallée du Rhône. Les ruines du château des Papes d'Avignon ont donné son nom à la ville des grands vins rouges. Les bons millésimes sont déjà un peu en retard (2010).

Der schönste Wochenmarkt hier in der Gegend findet immer Sonntag in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue statt. Die frisch sanierte Kathedrale wird bei dem Getümmel oft fast übersehen.

The most beautiful weekly market here in the area takes place on Sunday in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. The newly renovated cathedral is often overlooked during the hustle and bustle.

Le plus beau marché hebdomadaire de la région a lieu chaque dimanche à l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. La cathédrale fraîchement rénovée est souvent presque oubliée dans la tourmente.
