Muss ich gerade mal loswerden: Ich habe heute in einer echten Buchhandlung den Buchtitel gelesen: "In 7 Wochen 7 Jahre jünger". What? Was für ein Schwachsinn! Wer will denn jünger werden? Vintage ist doch das Kolumbusei des Tages, oder?

I just have to rant about this: I read the title of a book in a real life bookstore today: "7 years younger in 7 weeks". What? ... a load of rubbish! Who wants to get younger? Vintage is the Columbus egg of the day, isn't it?

For the traditional first meeting of the year, the Urban Sketchers Hannover always like to go to the New Town Hall. The architecture is challenging - but it's also a lot of fun to trace all the curves and features of the eclectic building.

Pour la traditionnelle première réunion de l'année, les Urban Sketchers de Hanovre aiment toujours se rendre au nouvel hôtel de ville. L'architecture est un défi - mais c'est aussi très amusant de tracer toutes les courbes et les caractéristiques de ce bâtiment éclectique.

In diesem Eckhaus in San Francisco an der 18th Str wurden wohl Teile des Films "Ant Man and the Wasp" gedreht. Habe den Streifen aber nie gesehen. 

Parts of the movie "Ant Man and the Wasp" were probably filmed in this corner building on 18th Street in San Francisco. Never saw the flick though.

1969 wurde der Bau des Wahrzeichens begonnen und 1972 stand es dann da. Und die Leute dachten. Okay, wenn's schon mal hier so rumsteht könne wir es auch zum Wahrzeichen machen. Und so geschah es.

Construction of the landmark began in 1969 and it stood there in 1972. And people thought. Okay, if it's already standing there, we might as well make it a landmark. And that's what happened.

La construction du monument a commencé en 1969 et il a été érigé en 1972. Et les gens ont pensé. D'accord, s'il est déjà là, autant en faire un point de repère. Et c'est ce qui s'est passé.

Die Geschichte besagt, dass das Haus im Jahr 1889 von William Westerfeld, einem deutschen Einwanderer, der Bäckereien und Süßwarengeschäfte besaß, errichtet wurde. Er gab den Turm in Auftrag, um seinen Bruder auszustechen, der ein Haus am Nob Hill besaß. Vom Turm aus konnte man die in der Bay of San Francisco ankommenden Schiffe sehen.

The story goes that the house was built in 1889 by William Westerfeld, a German immigrant who owned bakeries and candy stores. He commissioned the tower to outdo his brother, who owned a house on Nob Hill. From the tower you could see the ships arriving in the Bay of San Francisco.

L'histoire raconte que la maison a été construite en 1889 par William Westerfeld, un immigrant allemand qui possédait des boulangeries et des magasins de bonbons. Il a commandé la tour pour évincer son frère, qui possédait une maison sur Nob Hill. De la tour, on pouvait voir les bateaux qui arrivaient dans la baie de San Francisco.

Warum eigentlich sind gerade Tauben das Symbol für Frieden? Im Futterhaus fressen sie alles raus und bekämpfen sich gegenseitig. Sie übertragen Krankheiten und sind auch sonst als fliegende Ratten bekannt. Trotzdem: Schönes Neues Jahr!

Why are doves the symbol of peace? In the bird feeder they gobble up everything and fight each other. They also transmit infections and are otherwise known as flying rats. Nevertheless: Happy New Year!

Pourquoi les colombes sont-elles le symbole de la paix ? Dans la mangeoire à oiseaux, elles dévorent tout et se battent les unes contre les autres. Elles transmettent également des infections et sont autrement connues sous le nom de rats volants. Néanmoins, bonne année !
