Die Hauptstraßen sind meist nicht so interessant, wenn's ums Motivefinden geht. Erst in den abseits abgelegenen Orten findet sich das Malerische.

Main roads aren't usually very interesting when it comes to finding subjects to paint. It's only in the remote, off-the-beaten-path places that you find picturesque scenes.

Les routes principales ne sont généralement pas très intéressantes lorsqu'il s'agit de trouver des sujets à peindre. Ce n'est que dans les endroits isolés, loin des sentiers battus, que l'on trouve des scènes pittoresques.

Wolken sind immer ein faszinierendes und vielfältiges Motiv. Ich habe es mal mit Buntstift versucht - leider sind die Blautöne in der Repro schwierig zu fassen.

Clouds are always a fascinating and varied subject. I tried drawing them with colored pencils—unfortunately, the shades of blue are hard to capture in the reproduction.

Les nuages constituent toujours un sujet fascinant et varié. J'ai essayé de les dessiner au crayon de couleur, mais malheureusement, les nuances de bleu sont difficiles à rendre sur la reproduction.

Lange Zeit habe ich den Buntstift vernachlässigt. Es macht aber sehr viel Spaß, damit Schichten übereinanderzulegen. So entstehen zum Beispiel Multicolor-Ansichten wie diese. 

I’ve neglected colored pencils for a long time. But it’s really fun to layer them on top of each other. That’s how multicolor images like this one come about. 

J'ai longtemps négligé les crayons de couleur. Mais c'est vraiment amusant de superposer les couches. C'est ainsi que naissent, par exemple, des images multicolores comme celle-ci.

Am Sonntag fand der alljährliche Marathonlauf in Hannover statt. Mit unserer Urban Sketchers Gruppe skizzierten wir die Marathonis und das Drumherum. Besonders eine Dame machte mit ihren Anfeuerungsrufen allen gute Laune.

The annual marathon took place in Hanover on Sunday. Our Urban Sketchers group sketched the marathon runners and the surrounding scene. One woman in particular put everyone in a good mood with her cheers: “Claudia! I've never seen you run this fast before!” - “Jonas, you're a beast!” - “Markus, you're looking good!”

Dimanche dernier s'est déroulé le marathon annuel de Hanovre. Avec notre groupe d'Urban Sketchers, nous avons dessiné les marathoniens et l'ambiance qui régnait autour d'eux. Une dame en particulier a mis tout le monde de bonne humeur avec ses encouragements: « Claudia ! Je ne t'ai jamais vue courir aussi vite ! » - « Jonas, tu es un crack ! » - « Markus, ça a l'air bien ! »

Der Lindener Bergfriedhof wurde 1862 angelegt und steht nun mit den wenigen sichtbaren Grabsteinen und Figuren unter Denkmalschutz. Das Engelchen fand ich besonders schön zu skizzieren.

The mountain cemetery in Linden was established in 1862 and is now a designated historic site, with only a few gravestones and statues still visible. I particularly enjoyed sketching the little angel.

Le cimetière de montagne de Linden a été créé en 1862 et est aujourd’hui classé monument historique, avec pour seules traces visibles quelques pierres tombales et statues. J’ai particulièrement apprécié de dessiner le petit ange.

Die Skulptur scheint mir ein bisschen groß geraten zu sein. Aber ist nicht schlimm. Ob lebendig oder tot: So manche Säulenheiligen wollen ja größer erscheinen als sie sind.

The sculpture seems a bit too big to me. But that’s okay. Whether alive or dead, some column saints do want to appear taller than they really are.

Cette sculpture me semble un peu trop grande. Mais ce n'est pas grave. Qu'ils soient vivants ou morts, certains saints de colonne aiment bien paraître plus grands qu'ils ne le sont.

Am Ostermontag gab es einenkleinen Ausflug in Richtung der Rattenfängerstadt Hameln. Mein Malerfreund Malte (Der Stadtzeichner) hatte dort in seinem Atelier "Zur Alten Mühle" eine weitere coole Austellung. 

On Easter Monday, I took a little trip to Hamelin, the town of the Pied Piper. My painter friend Malte (Der Stadtzeichner) was holding another cool exhibition there at his studio, “Zur Alten Mühle.” 

Le lundi de Pâques, j'ai fait une petite escapade à Hamelin, la ville du Joueur de flûte. Mon ami peintre Malte (Der Stadtzeichner) y organisait une nouvelle exposition sympa dans son atelier « Zur Alten Mühle ».

Teil zwei aus dem Parkleben. Warum zielt die Person auf dem Sockel in die falsche Richtung? Was machen die da auf der Bank? Und sind das zwei Zypressen oder der Kölner Dom? Eigentlich sind es ja nur "Farb' und Pinselstrich".

Part Two from Park Life. Why is the figure on the pedestal aiming in the wrong direction? What are the people on the bench doing? And are those two cypress trees or the Cologne Cathedral? Actually, it’s really just “color and brushstrokes.”

Deuxième partie de « La vie au parc ». Pourquoi le personnage sur le socle regarde-t-il dans la mauvaise direction ? Que font les gens sur le banc ? Et s'agit-il de deux cyprès ou de la cathédrale de Cologne ? En réalité, ce ne sont que « de la couleur et des coups de pinceau ».
