The City Roof Walk recently opened on the top deck of a downtown parking garage. It’s a small oasis with greenery and benches right in the heart of the city. From here, you can enjoy beautiful new views of the city’s buildings.

Le City Roof Walk a récemment ouvert ses portes sur le dernier étage d'un parking en centre-ville. Une petite oasis de verdure agrémentée de bancs, en plein cœur de la ville. On y découvre de nouvelles vues magnifiques sur les immeubles de la ville.

Ein beliebter Ort zum Shoppen und Skizzieren mit vielen Ateliers und Restaurants. Im Distillery Viertel wurde - wie der Name vermuten lässt - Alkohol destilliert. Etwa 7.5 Millionen Liter Whisky wurden hier im 19. Jhd. produziert und in alle Welt verschifft. 

A popular spot for shopping and sketching, with many art studios and restaurants. As the name suggests, alcohol was distilled in the Distillery District. About 2 million gallons of whiskey were produced here in the 19th century and shipped all over the world.

Un lieu très prisé pour le shopping et le dessin, qui regorge d'ateliers d'artistes et de restaurants. Comme son nom l'indique, le Distillery District était autrefois un lieu de distillation d'alcool. Au XIXe siècle, environ 7,5 millions de litres de whisky y étaient produits et expédiés aux quatre coins du monde.

Neulich im Heideviertel - der Name suggeriert bereits Naturnähe - verliefen sich 5 junge süße Wildschweine in unser Vorstadtviertel. Ein ungewohnter Anblick für einen Stadtmenschen. Die Skizze ist imaginär - ein solches Gebäude gibt es hier nicht. 

The other day in the Heideviertel—a name that already suggests a closeness to nature—five cute young wild boars wandered into our suburban neighborhood. An unusual sight for a city dweller. The sketch is imaginary—there’s no such building here.

On Friday, we went sketching with Oliver at the Hainhölzer Höfe. Among other businesses, Ventje, which sells campervans, is based there.

Dritter und letzter Tag mit Oliver Höller aus Wien im Kurs "Lebendiges Skizzenbuch". Insgesamt war es (wieder) ein charmanter und lehrreicher Kurs bei einem überragenden Dozenten. Wir haben viele kleine und feine Übungen gemacht - zum Beispiele diese "Flächen- und Silhouetten-Übung.

The third and final day with Oliver Höller from Vienna in the “Living Sketchbook” course. Overall, it was (once again) a charming and informative course led by an outstanding instructor. We did many small but effective exercises—for example, this “surface and silhouette” exercise.

Troisième et dernier jour avec Oliver Höller, de Vienne, dans le cadre du stage « Carnet de croquis vivant ». Dans l’ensemble, ce fut (une fois de plus) un stage charmant et instructif animé par un formateur exceptionnel. Nous avons réalisé de nombreux petits exercices très pertinents, comme par exemple cet « exercice sur les surfaces et les silhouettes ».

Im Zoo Hannover gibt es eine echt cool nachgebaute Yukon Bay Area Szenerie. In der Market Hall gibt's Futter und gegenüber sitzt der Eisbär auf dem Felsen.

Hanover Zoo has a really cool replica of the Yukon Bay Area. You can get food in the Market Hall, and across from it, the polar bear is sitting on a rock.

Le zoo de Hanovre abrite une reconstitution vraiment géniale de la région de Yukon Bay. On peut se restaurer dans le Market Hall, et juste en face, l'ours polaire est assis sur un rocher.

Am Montag war ich kurz im Zoo zum Skizzieren. da noch Schulferien in Niedersachsen sind, waren entsprechend viele Kids dort. Schöner Anlass, eher die Zoo-Deko als die Tiere zu skizzieren, die man vor lauter kleinen Bälgern nicht sehen konnte.

On Monday, I stopped by the zoo briefly to sketch. Since it’s still school vacation in Lower Saxony, there were a lot of kids there. It was a great opportunity to sketch the zoo’s decorations rather than the animals, which were impossible to see because of all the little rascals running around.

Lundi, je suis passé rapidement au zoo pour faire quelques croquis. Comme ce sont encore les vacances scolaires en Basse-Saxe, il y avait beaucoup d’enfants. C’était l’occasion idéale de dessiner les décorations du zoo plutôt que les animaux, que l’on ne voyait pas à cause de tous ces petits chenapans.

Der Blumenstand gegenüber dem Café war zwar schön aber mein Anspruch, nur mit Indigo und einer weiteren Farbe (gelb) auszukommen war fürs Gesamtmotiv zu langweilig. Darum habe ich nachträglich noch den Mann und die Dame mit Hund für die "Story" ergänzt.

On Monday, I was walking along the “Lister Meile” shopping street. The flower stand across from the café was pretty, but my plan to use only indigo and one other color (yellow) made the overall composition too boring. So I added the man and the woman with the dog to "tell the story”.

Lundi, je me promenais dans la rue commerçante « Lister Meile ». Le stand de fleurs en face du café était joli, mais mon intention de n’utiliser que de l’indigo et une autre couleur (le jaune) rendait la composition d’ensemble trop monotone. J’ai donc ajouté l’homme et la femme avec leur chien pour « raconter l’histoire ».
