I’ve already paid ample tribute to the little town of Séguret in a sketch. Today I’ve produced an oil painting of it.
J'ai déjà rendu un hommage détaillé à la petite ville de Séguret dans un croquis. Aujourd'hui, j'en ai réalisé une peinture à l'huile.

Dieses Motiv (siehe hier) habe ich ja bereits vor Ort in Saignon gesketcht. Nun habe ich es auch als Ölbild umgesetzt mit einigen künstlerischen Freiheiten.
I had already sketched this scene (see here) while I was in Saignon. Now I've turned it into an oil painting, taking some artistic liberties along the way.
J'avais déjà esquissé cette scène (voici) lors de mon séjour à Saignon. Je l'ai maintenant transposée en peinture à l'huile, en prenant quelques libertés artistiques.

Nach dem Urlaub hat man ja so viele Bilder und Eindrücke im Kopf! Und auch viele Aufnahmen auf dem Handy. Ein paar davon habe ich die letzte Woche mit Pinsel und Ölfarbe farbig umgesetzt. Diese Szene müsste oberhalb von Fontaine-de-Vaucluse aufgenommen worden sein.
After a vacation, you have so many images and memories in your head! And lots of photos on your phone, too. Last week, I painted a few of them in oil. This scene must have been taken somewhere above Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
Après les vacances, on a tellement d'images et d'impressions en tête ! Et aussi plein de photos sur son téléphone. La semaine dernière, j'en ai peint quelques-unes à l'huile. Cette scène a dû être prise au-dessus de Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.

The Urban Sketchers Hannover met again on Sunday. Together, we sketched the Königsworther Bridge (built around 1889) over the Leine River. The magnificent candelabras and their accompanying mythical sea creatures are truly impressive.
Les Urban Sketchers de Hanovre se sont retrouvés dimanche. Ensemble, nous avons dessiné le pont de Königsworth (construit vers 1889) qui enjambe la Leine. Les magnifiques candélabres et les créatures marines mythiques qui les accompagnent sont vraiment impressionnants.

Im Bistrot des Roques - einem unserer Lieblingslokale - waren wir natürlich auch. Grandioser Empfang und essen wie immer exzellent!
Of course, we also stopped by Bistrot des Roques—one of our favorite spots. We received a wonderful welcome, and the food was excellent, as always!
Nous sommes bien sûr également passés au Bistrot des Roques, l'un de nos endroits préférés. Nous avons reçu un accueil formidable et, comme toujours, la cuisine était excellente !

In Carpentras findet Sonntags der Vide Grenier (Flohmarkt) statt. Wir sind extra früh dorthin und um 8:30 h war noch nicht viel aufgebaut. Da gab's dann erst noch ein Petit Déjeuner im verschlafenen Innenstadtbereich. Die Turteltauben waren schon wach.
The Vide Grenier (flea market) takes place on Sundays in Carpentras. We went there extra early, and by 8:30 a.m., not much had been set up yet. So we had breakfast first in the sleepy downtown area. The lovebirds were already awake.
À Carpentras, le vide-grenier a lieu le dimanche. Nous y sommes allés très tôt et, à 8 h 30, il n'y avait pas encore grand-chose de monté. Nous avons donc pris un petit-déjeuner dans le centre-ville encore endormi. Les tourtereaux étaient déjà réveillés.

You might think we spent our entire vacation hanging out in bars and cafés drinking coffee—and uhm - that’s probably not too far from the truth.
On pourrait croire que pendant nos vacances, nous n'avons fait que traîner dans les bars et les cafés à boire du café – ce n'est sans doute pas si loin de la réalité.

Actually, we just wanted to grab a quick French breakfast (café crème, croissant—no Gauloises ;) on our way to Seguret. In Aubignan, we found just what we were looking for and were pleasantly surprised by the lovely atmosphere around the market.
En fait, nous voulions juste prendre un petit-déjeuner français sur le pouce (café crème, croissant – pas de Gauloises ;) en route vers Séguret. À Aubignan, nous avons trouvé notre bonheur et avons été agréablement surpris par la belle ambiance qui régnait autour du marché.
We’ve been to Saint Pantaleon quite a few times, but we’ve never sketched the lovely little chapel there. It was definitely about time! After a delicious lunch at Bistrot des Roques, the moment had finally arrived.
Nous sommes allés plusieurs fois à Saint-Pantaleon, mais nous n’avions encore jamais dessiné la jolie petite chapelle qui s’y trouve. Il était grand temps ! Après un délicieux déjeuner au Bistrot des Roques, le moment était enfin venu.

Avignon hat mir wieder einmal extrem gut gefallen. Obwohl die Temperaturen im Laufe des Tages auf fast 34°C stiegen, findet man dort immer auch luftige und schattige Plätze. Wie hier auf dem Place Saint-Didier.
Once again, I really enjoyed Avignon. Even though temperatures rose to nearly 93° Fahrenheit during the day, you can always find breezy, shaded spots there. Like here at Place Saint-Didier.
Une fois de plus, j'ai beaucoup aimé Avignon. Même si les températures ont grimpé jusqu'à près de 34 °C au cours de la journée, on y trouve toujours des endroits aérés et ombragés. Comme ici, sur la place Saint-Didier.

Séguret is located in the northern part of Provence and is a beautiful, somewhat secluded mountain village. You can enjoy delicious food at LLe Mesclun—but be sure to make a reservation in advance.
Séguret se trouve plutôt au nord de la Provence et est un joli village de montagne un peu caché. On peut y déguster une cuisine délicieuse au restaurant Le Mesclun, mais il est conseillé de réserver à l'avance.

Die Stadt meines Namensvetters liegt ganz in der Nähe. Ein echt verschlafenes Nest und dennoch inzwischen schon etwas belebter als vor zwei Jahren, als wir das letzte Mal hier waren.
The town that shares roughly my name is very close by. It’s a real sleepy little town, but it’s a bit livelier now than it was two years ago, when we were last here.
La ville qui porte à peu près le même nom que moi se trouve tout près. C'est un vrai petit coin perdu, mais elle est tout de même un peu plus animée aujourd'hui qu'il y a deux ans, lors de notre dernier passage.

Eigentlich wollten wir ja nur kurz Stop in Lourmarin machen. Im Café Gaby gab's aber leckeren Kaffee und das Essen sah dann auch noch gut aus (und war es auch).
We actually just wanted to make a quick stop in Lourmarin. But Café Gaby had delicious coffee, and the food looked good too (and it was).
En fait, on voulait juste faire une petite halte à Lourmarin. Mais au Café Gaby, le café était délicieux et les plats avaient l'air appétissants (et ils l'étaient).

Das Internet lahmt gerade etwas -wahrscheinlich liegt es an den 32,5°C Hitze? Aber die Temperaturen sollen noch etwas weiter steigen. Prima. Lieber zu heiß als zu kalt. Und im Schatten der schönen uralten Platane vor dem Office du Tourisme in Caromb ist es auszuhalten.
The internet’s a bit slow right now—probably because of 90.5°Fahrenheit? But the temperatures are supposed to rise even higher. Great. Better too hot than too cold. And in the shade of the beautiful ancient plane tree in front of the Office du Tourisme in Caromb, it’s bearable.
Internet est un peu lent en ce moment — c'est sans doute à cause de cette chaleur de 32,5 °C ? Mais les températures devraient encore grimper un peu. Super. Mieux vaut trop chaud que trop froid. Et à l'ombre du magnifique platane centenaire devant l'Office du Tourisme de Caromb, c'est supportable.

In unserem Ferienort fand am Pfingstsonntag eine Fête Americaine statt. Auf dem Parkplatz standen alte Panzer, Jeeps, Lkw, Militärzelte und so weiter aus der Zeit alliierten Befreiung um 1944. Es wurde Rock 'n Roll Musik gespielt und in Kostümen getanzt.
An American-themed festival was held in our resort town on Pentecost Sunday. The parking lot was filled with old tanks, jeeps, trucks, military tents, and other items from the time of the Allied liberation around 1944. Rock ‘n’ roll music was played, and people danced in period costumes.
Une fête sur le thème de l'Amérique a eu lieu dans notre station balnéaire le dimanche de Pentecôte. Le parking était rempli de vieux chars, de jeeps, de camions, de tentes militaires et d'autres objets datant de la libération par les Alliés vers 1944. De la musique rock “n” roll était diffusée et les gens dansaient en costumes d'époque.

A few years ago, we stayed in the charming mountain village of Saignon. During the day, the place is bustling with tourists, but it gets quieter as evening approaches.

Von Café zu Café? Irgendwie schon - hier hat man meist einen schönen Blick und - nun - Kaffee oder ein kaltes Getränk. Mittlerweile haben die Temperaturen die 30°C Grenze erreicht. So muss Urlaub sein!
From café to café? Sort of—you usually get a nice view here and, well, coffee or a cold drink. The temperatures have now hit the 30°C mark. That’s what a holiday should be like!
D’un café à l’autre ? En quelque sorte – on y trouve généralement une belle vue et, enfin, un café ou une boisson fraîche. Les températures ont désormais franchi la barre des 30 °C. C’est ça, les vacances !

An der Kreuzung mit dem Obelisken sitzen wir ganz gerne im Café und beobachten das meist touristische Leben.
We really enjoy sitting at the café at the intersection with the obelisk and watching the mostly touristy goings-on.
Au carrefour où se trouve l'obélisque, nous aimons bien nous asseoir à la terrasse d'un café pour observer l'agitation, principalement touristique.

The little river Sorgue has a spectacular source in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. From the elevated castle ruins, you can see the little town, and a short hike brings you within sight of the grotto where the spring gushes forth as a rushing stream.
La petite rivière Sorgue a une source spectaculaire à Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Depuis les ruines du château surélevées, on aperçoit la petite ville, et une petite randonnée permet d’arriver à proximité de la grotte où la source jaillit en un torrent impétueux.
