Heute schönes Orgelspiel in der Kirche gehört. Manchmal dachte ich jedoch, zwei Organisten kämpften gegeneinander und spielten etwas komplett Gegensätzliches.

I heard beautiful organ music in the church today. At times, however, I thought it sounded like two organists were fighting each other, playing completely opposite pieces.

Eine Wanderung zu den Levadas, die wir leider nicht gemacht haben, da die Sicht sehr schlecht war wegen Nebels und es auch noch zu regnen begonnen hatte, startete an diesem schönen Ort. Der Kuchen und der Kaffee hier waren dann die kleine Entschädigung. Und danach machten wir eine kleinere auch sehr schöne Wanderung von hier aus.

A hike to the levadas, which we unfortunately didn't do because the visibility was very poor due to fog and it also started to rain, started at this beautiful spot. The cake and coffee here were a small consolation. And afterwards we did a shorter, but also very nice hike from here.

Vom Cabo Girão (hohe Steilklippe im Süden Madeiras) aus gibt es einen schönen Wanderweg treppab durch die Landschaft zurück nach Câmara de Lobos.

From Cabo Girão (a high cliff in the south of Madeira), there is a beautiful hiking trail down through the countryside back to Câmara de Lobos.

Depuis Cabo Girão (une haute falaise au sud de Madère), un magnifique sentier de randonnée descend à travers la campagne pour revenir à Câmara de Lobos.

Poncha würde ich mal mit "Punsch" übersetzen. Also hier der traditionell madeirische Zuckerrohrschnaps plus Honig und z.B. Maracujasaft oder anderen Fruchtingredenzien. Bei der Beschreibung merkt man schon, wie's "reinballert". Prost!

I would translate poncha as “punch.” So here we have traditional Madeiran sugar cane schnapps plus honey and, for example, passion fruit juice or other fruit ingredients. Just reading the description, you can already tell how strong it is. Cheers!

Je traduirais poncha par « punch ». Il s'agit donc ici d'une eau-de-vie traditionnelle de canne à sucre de Madère, additionnée de miel et, par exemple, de jus de fruit de la passion ou d'autres ingrédients fruités. Heute haben wir eine besonders schöne Wanderung entlang der Levada do Rei unternommen. Die Levadas sind die klassichen Bewässerungskanäle der Insel Madeira.

Today we went on a particularly beautiful hike along the Levada do Rei. The levadas are the classic irrigation channels of the island of Madeira.

Aujourd'hui, nous avons fait une randonnée particulièrement belle le long de la Levada do Rei. Les levadas sont les canaux d'irrigation classiques de l'île de Madère.

Unsere Unterkunft ist die Quinta do Furao im Osten der Insel. Von hier aus sieht man die Steilküste, Palmen, Bananen und Weinberge. Ein kleines Paradies.

Our accommodation is Quinta do Furao in the east of the island. From here, you can see the cliffs, palm trees, banana trees, and vineyards. A little paradise.

Machico ist der älteste Ort Madeiras. 1419 sollen hier die portugiesischen Entdecker (u.a. Zarco) in der schönen Bucht erstmals die Insel betreten haben. Und jetzt war ich auch hier, es wird aber sicher niemand auf Wikipedia darüber schreiben.

Machico is the oldest town in Madeira. In 1419, Portuguese explorers (including Zarco) are said to have first set foot on the island here in this beautiful bay. And now I was here too, but I'm sure no one will write about it on Wikipedia.

Machico est la plus ancienne ville de Madère. En 1419, les explorateurs portugais (dont Zarco) auraient débarqué pour la première fois sur l'île dans cette magnifique baie. Et maintenant, j'étais moi aussi ici, mais personne n'écrira certainement rien à ce sujet sur Wikipédia.

Na, wenn das mal kein schöner Name ist. Also da ist ein Felsen mit einem Loch im Atlantik. Nachdem wir endlich einen Mietwagen bekommen haben sind wir nun eigenständig motorisiert unterwegs.

Well, if that isn't a beautiful name. So there's a rock with a hole in it in the Atlantic Ocean. Now that we've finally got a rental car, we're on our way with our own transportation.

Eh bien, si ce n'est pas un joli nom. Il y a donc un rocher avec un trou dans l'océan Atlantique. Maintenant que nous avons enfin obtenu une voiture de location, nous sommes autonomes pour nos déplacements.

Nach einer abenteurlichen Busfahrt und unfreiwilligen (aber sehr schönen und kurzen) Wanderung waren wir im eigentümlichen tropischen Garten. Superschön!

After an adventurous bus ride and an involuntary (but very beautiful and short) hike, we arrived at the unique tropical garden. Super beautiful!

Après un trajet en bus mouvementé et une randonnée involontaire (mais très belle et courte), nous sommes arrivés dans un jardin tropical unique en son genre. Superbe !

Von der Festung am Strand aus sieht man eine schöne Kirche. Ich wurde beim Zeichnen von einem heftigen Schauer überrascht und die Schattierungen in Blau wurde dann später am Pier im Kiosco gemacht. Als Belohnung gab es dann noch heiße Maronen. 

From the fortress on the beach, you can see a beautiful church. I was surprised by a heavy shower while drawing, and the blue shading was added later at the kiosk on the pier. As a reward, I treated myself to some hot chestnuts. 

Depuis la forteresse sur la plage, on peut voir une belle église. J'ai été surpris par une forte averse pendant que je dessinais, et les nuances de bleu ont été ajoutées plus tard au kiosque sur la jetée. En récompense, je me suis offert des marrons chauds.

Die Inselhauptstadt Funchal ist eine quirlige und junge Stadt im Süden Madeiras. Die typische Bauweise der Kapellen sieht man wahrscheinlich hier. Sehr schön gelegen ist diese hier in der Atstadt.

The island's capital, Funchal, is a lively, young city in the south of Madeira. The typical architecture of the chapels can probably be seen here. This one is beautifully located in the old town.

La capitale de l'île, Funchal, est une ville jeune et animée située au sud de Madère. C'est probablement ici que l'on peut voir l'architecture typique des chapelles. Celle-ci est magnifiquement située dans la vieille ville.

Wie ihr seht, ist das nicht Hannover. Seit heute bin ich auf Madeira und genieße noch ein paar Sonnenstrahlen und frische Meeresbrise. Hier in Câmara de Lobos hat bereits Sir Winston Churchill gesessen und gemalt.

As you can see, this isn't Hanover. As of today, I'm in Madeira, enjoying a few more rays of sunshine and the fresh sea breeze. Sir Winston Churchill once sat and painted here in Câmara de Lobos.

Comme vous pouvez le voir, ce n'est pas Hanovre. Depuis aujourd'hui, je suis à Madère, où je profite encore de quelques rayons de soleil et de la brise marine rafraîchissante. Sir Winston Churchill s'est déjà assis et a peint ici, à Câmara de Lobos.

Das Treffen der Urban Sketchers Hannover fand auch dieses Mal wieder im Museum statt. Da ich diesen Raum bereits mehrmals „ordentlich“ gezeichnet hatte, wurde er dieses Mal etwas schwindelerregend gezeichnet.

The Urban Sketchers Hannover meeting took place at the museum again this time. Since I had already drawn this room “neatly” several times, this time I drew it in a somewhat vertiginous manner.

La rencontre des Urban Sketchers Hannover a de nouveau eu lieu au musée. Comme j'avais déjà dessiné cette pièce « proprement » à plusieurs reprises, je l'ai cette fois-ci dessinée de manière un peu vertigineuse.
