Unsere »Mittwochs-Sketchinggruppe meets Friends« heute im Zoo. Bin sehr gespannt, ob die Tiere sich benehmen und brav als Motiv für uns posieren. Heute habe ich schon mal einen Schwarzschwanz Präriehund in meinem Fotoarchiv gefunden.

Today our "Wednesdays-Sketching group meets with Friends" at the zoo. I am very curious whether the animals behave obediently and will pose for us. Today I have already found a Blacktail Prairie Dog in my photo archive.

Am Fischmarkt in Venedig warten die Möwen pausenlos auf Fischabfälle und verwertbare Reste. 

Diese Dame kam wohl etwas zu spät; es war bereits alles vertilgt.

Dozens of seagulls are waiting constantly for fish waste and recyclable residues at the fish market in Venice.
This lady came a little too late. Everything was already eaten up.

So langsam streckt der Frühling seine Fühler aus.

Gestern sah ich die ersten Mückenschwärme um unser Wuschelgras fliegen.

Kann man auch drauf verzichten, finde ich.

Also auf die Mücken, nicht auf den Frühling!

Das Motiv ist eine Reminiszenz an den »Erfinder« der Daily Painting Bewegung in Amerika, Duane Keiser.

Crane Flies

Slowly the spring has to put out  its feelers.

Yesterday I saw the first swarms of gnats flying around our curly grass.

I have to admit that I do not really need them damned mosquitoes.

The design is a reminescence to the »inventor« of the daily painting movement in America, Duane Keiser.

1135 Zoo Event

Gestern gab es eine kleine Zoomalerei mit der Mittwochsgruppe.

Nachdem wir letzte Woche bei den Pferden geübt hatten, mussten diesmal die Pinguine und Elefanten dran glauben (gute Models). Die Eisbären hüpften diesmal nur wild und missmutig von einer Ecke zur anderen und entsprechend wacklig wurden die Skizzen. Da dürfen sich die Bären jetzt nicht wundern, wie Büffel auszusehen.

Yesterday there was a small zoo painting with my Wednesday Sketching pals. 

Last week we exercised ourselves painting some horses. Penguins and elephants make good models too. They were patiently and friendly posing for us. The polar bears were misbehaving kids and jumped around wild and were scowling from one corner to another. Accordingly the sketches are shaky. So the bears should not be surprised to look like buffalos.

Als Vorbereitung zur großen Zoo-Sause nächste Woche haben wir am Mittwoch Pferde gemalt und skizziert. Ich glaube, das sind die ersten Pferde, die ich seit langem male.
Das Aquarell vom Montag ist nun auch fertig und erhältlich!

Die Idee hierzu kam mir letzte Woche beim Besuch unseres Zoos in Hannover.

Die Aktion läuft eine Woche und die Ergebnisse aller Teilnehmer lassen sich dann ab sofort anschauen.

I didn't check if there really passed any philosophers this way. But there were some cows acting so relaxed and quite contemplative. Their motto: »The grass is the goal.«

But this doesn't make a footballer a thinker ;-)

As so often, I let the fate its chance to perform. Thus, from a not so successful portrait attempt on a big canvas quickly developped a marine atmosphere. Sometimes you have to let yourself just drift away a little while.
