Am Wochenende habe ich erstmals direkt mit Acrylfarben in der Aktmalklasse hantiert. Da die längsten Posings nur 15-20 Minuten dauerten, war dies eine besondere Herausforderung für mich. Zum einen muss man sich einen Ausschnitt und eine Komposition suchen und zum anderen schnell noch Skizze, Farben und Pinselführung zusammenbringen. Das Bild hat einen schönen Jugendstil-Touch bekommen.

Morning Prayer

Last weekend it was my first time, that I handled directly with acrylics in the live painting class. Since the longest posings lasted only 15-20 minutes, it was a special challenge for the me. At first, you have to search a detail and a composition and then match quickly sketch, colors and brushwork. The painting has a beautiful touch of »Art Nouveau«.

Heute ist es schon die achte meiner »Petitessen«. Für mich immer eine der schwierigsten meiner selbstgestellten Herausforderungen: Ich setze mir ein Zeitlimit für das Gesicht und den Korpus (maximal eine CD-Länge). Der Zeitdruck verhindert eine zu große Detailverliebtheit. Danach male ich dann in 5-6 Minuten die Haare und den Hintergrund fertig.

Today it's already the eighth of my »petitesses«. These paintings are kind of the hardest of my self-imposed challenges. I set myself on a time limit for the face and body (maximum length of a CD). The time pressure prevents to fall in love with the details. Afterwards, I paint the hair and the background in 5-6 minutes.

Gestern las ich in einem Kolleginnenblog von der Idee, ein Bild in 37 Minuten fertigzustellen. Das musste ich dann natürlich sofort auch einmal umsetzen. 

Warum 37 Minuten? Nun, der Vater des Gedanken hatte in einem Second Hand Laden ein wohl etwas esoterisch angehauchtes Stundenglas gekauft, das dieses Zeitmaß vorgab. 

Wieder erhältlich, Käufer hat nicht bezahlt.

Yesterday I enjoyed reading a fellow blog with the idea of ​​completing a painting in just 37 minutes. Of course, I immediately had to try this out.

Why 37 minutes? Well, the father of this idea had bought an idiosyncratic hour glass in a second hand store which runs exactly 37 Minutes for one turn.

Die nackte Wahrheit: 
Ich wusste am Anfang gar nicht, dass es eine liegende Frau wird. Wie so oft hat sich die Dame aus einer Skizze für etwas ganz anderes ergeben. Schön, wenn man offen bleibt, für das, was sich aus einer Grundierung oder Untermalung ergibt.
Nackte Wahrheit II: Dieses Bild wurde inzwischen übermalt!

The naked truth:
At the beginning I didn't knew that it will lead to a lying woman. (Why is lying and lying the same word in English?) As it often happens to be, the lady has resulted from a sketch for something completely different. Nice if you remain open-spirited to what arises from a priming or underpainting.

Diese 15 Minuten Skizzen malte ich gestern bei unserem Sonder-Akt-Kurs. Von Zeit zu Zeit ist es unerlässlich, den menschlichen Körper zu zeichnen, damit die Körperteile auch bei angezogenen Menschen realistisch aussehen. Unser wunderbares Modell Cornelia nahm zufällig fast die Pose ein, die ich gestern gemalt habe :)

Nude Character

These 15 minute poses I painted last sunday at a Life Drawing Session. From time to time it's indispensable to draw the human body for the understanding of the body parts. Cornelia, which is a wonderful model, by chance did nearly the pose, I painted yesterday :)

Der letzte Schritt

Manchmal sind ist die letzten Pinselstriche, die entscheiden, ob ein Bild in sich stimmig wird. Manchmal wirkt es noch zu flach. manchmal fehlt eine Hand. Dann ist es besser, wenn man noch einmal Hand anlegt (im doppelten Wortsinn).
Ich habe mal eine »vorher-nachher« Animation gemacht (siehe unten).

The final Step
Sometimes, the last brush strokes decide whether the image is consistent or not. Sometimes its too flat or quirky. Sometimes body parts are missing like hands or feet. Then it's better to put it back on the easel. 
I made a »before and after« animation.

Manchmal ist eine Studie (siehe gestern) ja nur eine Ausrede, wenn's schnell gehen soll oder das Bild nicht so gelungen ist. Manchmal ist eine Studie aber auch nur eine Studie: Darum gibt es heute das nochmals größer umgesetzte Bild der Nixe.
