"Lovis Corinth und der Akt um 1900" lautet der Titel der aktuellen Sonderausstellung im Nds. Landesmuseum. Am Mittwoch trafen sich dort u.a. angehende Modedesigner zum Aktmalen vor Ort. Ich war auch mal dabei als mitzeichnender Gast.

Bare and naked

"Lovis Corinth and nude paintings around 1900" is the title of the current special exhibition in the Lower Saxony State Museum. On Wednesday approaching fashion designers were drawing there live on site. I joined as a sketching guest.

Am Donnerstag gab es endlich wieder den Aktmal- und Zeichenkurs. 

Alle Skizzen entstanden in jeweils 2 Minuten.

Das »rote Massaker« sollte eigentlich anfangs gar keine Skizze werden.

Aber letztlich kann man hier (je nach Stimmung und Fantasie) Frauenkörper, Fische beim Ausnehmen oder Müll trennende Sizilianer bei der Kartoffelernte mit einer Kettensäge erkennen.

Thursday (yippie!) the live painting class started again.

All sketches were made in 2 minutes each.

The »red massacre« initially was not intended to be a sketch.

But ultimately (depending on your mood and imagination) you can see women's bodies, a man gutting fish or identify Sicilians separating garbage with a chainsaw at the potato harvest.

Die nackte Wahrheit: 
Ich wusste am Anfang gar nicht, dass es eine liegende Frau wird. Wie so oft hat sich die Dame aus einer Skizze für etwas ganz anderes ergeben. Schön, wenn man offen bleibt, für das, was sich aus einer Grundierung oder Untermalung ergibt.

The naked truth:
At the beginning I didn't knew that it will lead to a lying woman. (Why is lying and lying the same word in English?) As it often happens to be, the lady has resulted from a sketch for something completely different. Nice if you remain open-spirited to what arises from a priming or underpainting.

Modellversuche

Als Einleitung der Woche folgt heute der zweite Satz meiner Durchführung des Marburger Aktmalwochenendes als klassische Symphonie in 3 Akten. Diesmal mit Betonung einer ganz auf die grafische Linie reduzierten Note.

StartUp

Gestern beim Aktzeichenkurs. Manche Modelle lassen sich einfach sehr gut zeichnen und haben eine natürliche Ausstrahlung und Begabung. Unglaublich, aber für die junge Frau war es das erste Modellstehen. 

Yesterday at the nude painting class. Some models are easy to sketch and have a natural charisma and talent. Unbelievable, but it was the first time this model posed.

Liegender Akt I

Nach längerer Pause habe ich gestern mal wieder ein paar »kalligraphische Akte« gemalt. Herausgekommen ist eine interessante kleine Studie, wie man 12 Minuten sein linkes Bein in der Luft hält, ohne dass es einschläft. Unten gibt's noch weitere Studienskizzen ohne Einschlaffaktor.

Reclining Nude I
Yesterday, after a long break I've painted a couple of my »calligraphic nudes«. The result is a tiny interesting study, how to hold a leg for 12 minutes up in the air without getting numb. Below, there's yet another study sketches.

Goldfischteich

Gestern begann nach der Sommerpause endlich wieder mein regelmäßig besuchter Aktkurs statt. Ich finde es bewundernswert von den Modellen, dass sie sich überhaupt vor einer Gruppe fremden Menschen nackig machen. Und dann gibt es darunter noch solche Gliedmaßenverknoter, die jede gezeichnete Skizze irreal aussehen lassen. (Das schreibe ich nur, um von anatomischen Unstimmigkeiten in meinem Bild abzulenken.) Die dargestellte Pose mit herabhängendem Kopf erinnerte mich spontan an einen intensiven Blick in einen Teich. Das Bild wurde im Kurs auf Leinwand begonnen und zu Hause fertiggestellt.

Goldfish pond
Yesterday, after the summer break, it was the beginning of my regular nude painting class. I always find it admirable of the models to pose absolutely naked for a group of strangers. Some of them are famous contorsionists, that make each drawn sketch look unreal. (I write this only to distract you from anatomical discrepancies in my drawings.) The drooping head pose looks to me like an intense look into a pond. I begun the picture in the classroom and completed it at home.
