I could imagine that the Batman from the 60s was a chain smoker who then switched to a pipe in the 80s. Today, of course, he is a non-tobacco-smoker. (But a crackhead.)

Avec les sketchers du dimanche de l'association Urban Sketchers Hannover, nous sommes allés au Kestnermuseum. On y trouve des œuvres d'art datant de l'époque des Romains, des Étrusques, des Égyptiens et jusqu'aux designs d'aujourd'hui.

 In meiner Kindheit und Jugend hatten wir auch einen Langhaardackel. Nach einem gelungenen Coup (wie den Sonntagshackbraten oder die Schüssel mit Rumkugelteig aufzufressen) war die Mörderwaffe der eingebaute Dackelblick. 

In my childhood we also had a long-haired dachshund. After a successful coup (like eating the Sunday meatloaf or the bowl of rum ball dough), the murder weapon was the dachshund's built-in don't-blame-it-on-me-look. 

Dans mon enfance et jeunesse, nous avions aussi un teckel à poil long. Après un coup réussi (comme manger le pain de viande du dimanche ou le bol de pâte au rhum), l'arme du crime était le regard intégré du teckel: « qui ne me blâme pas ».

Veronica Lake war ebenfalls eine meist in verruchten Rollen auftretende Filmdiva des klassischen Hollywoodfilms der 40er Jahre. Die wohl letzte bedeutende Rolle gelang ihr an der Seite von Alan Ladd im Flm "Die blaue Dahlie". Sie war das Vorbild für die Zeichentrickfigur als Roger Rabbits Ehefrau Jessica.

Veronica Lake was another film diva of the classic Hollywood of the 1940s, usually appearing in wicked roles. Probably her last significant role was alongside Alan Ladd in the movie "The Blue Dahlia". She was the archetype of the cartoon character as Roger Rabbit's wife Jessica.

Veronica Lake était également une diva du cinéma classique hollywoodien des années 40, qui jouait la plupart du temps des rôles de débauche. Son dernier rôle important fut sans doute aux côtés d'Alan Ladd dans le film "Le Dahlia bleu". Elle a servi de modèle pour le personnage animé de Jessica, l'épouse de Roger Rabbit.

Der Film "Sein oder Nichtsein" unter der Regie von Ernst Lubitsch wurde ihr ketzter, denn leider starb sie im Alter von 33 Jahre bei einem Flugzeugabsturz. 

Another diva portrait of the great actress who came into the world as Jane Alice Peters - and made a name for herself with screwball comedies. She was later the wife of Clark Gable. The film "To Be or Not to Be", directed by Ernst Lubitsch, became her last film, as she unfortunately died in a plane crash at the age of 33.

Im Jahre 1934 führte Hollywood den Hays Code ein. Fortan mussten alle Filme moralisch akzeptable Darstellungen zu Kriminalität, Sexualität und Politik erfüllen. erst 1967 wurde der Code abgeschafft. Die heutige von mir skizzierte Filmdiva Carol Lombard durfte danach (leider) nicht mehr so freizügig in Lingerie agieren.

In 1934, Hollywood introduced the Hays Code. From then on, all films had to fulfil morally acceptable depictions of crime, sexuality and politics. The code was only abolished in 1967. The film diva Carol Lombard I sketched today was (unfortunately) no longer allowed to act so freely in lingerie.

En 1934, Hollywood a introduit le Code Hays. A partir de ce moment-là, tous les films devaient respecter des représentations moralement acceptables du crime, de la sexualité et de la politique. Le code n'a été aboli qu'en 1967. La diva du cinéma Carol Lombard que j'ai dépeinte aujourd'hui n'était (malheureusement) plus autorisée à agir aussi librement en lingerie.

Das Wetter am Sonntagmittag und den ganzen Tag über war äußerst sonnig und heiter. So konnte ich die erste Plein Air Zeichnung dieses Jahres im Sonnenschein auf einer Parkbank sitzend anfertigen.

The weather on Sunday noon and throughout the day was extremely sunny and bright. So I was able to do my first plein air drawing of the year sitting on a park bench in the sunshine.

Le temps de dimanche midi et de toute la journée était extrêmement ensoleillé et serein. J'ai donc pu réaliser mon premier dessin Plein Air de l'année, assis sur un banc de parc, sous le soleil.

Muss ich gerade mal loswerden: Ich habe heute in einer echten Buchhandlung den Buchtitel gelesen: "In 7 Wochen 7 Jahre jünger". What? Was für ein Schwachsinn! Wer will denn jünger werden? Vintage ist doch das Kolumbusei des Tages, oder?

I just have to rant about this: I read the title of a book in a real life bookstore today: "7 years younger in 7 weeks". What? ... a load of rubbish! Who wants to get younger? Vintage is the Columbus egg of the day, isn't it?

For the traditional first meeting of the year, the Urban Sketchers Hannover always like to go to the New Town Hall. The architecture is challenging - but it's also a lot of fun to trace all the curves and features of the eclectic building.

Pour la traditionnelle première réunion de l'année, les Urban Sketchers de Hanovre aiment toujours se rendre au nouvel hôtel de ville. L'architecture est un défi - mais c'est aussi très amusant de tracer toutes les courbes et les caractéristiques de ce bâtiment éclectique.

In diesem Eckhaus in San Francisco an der 18th Str wurden wohl Teile des Films "Ant Man and the Wasp" gedreht. Habe den Streifen aber nie gesehen. 

Parts of the movie "Ant Man and the Wasp" were probably filmed in this corner building on 18th Street in San Francisco. Never saw the flick though.

Construction of the landmark began in 1969 and it stood there in 1972. And people thought. Okay, if it's already standing there, we might as well make it a landmark. And that's what happened.

La construction du monument a commencé en 1969 et il a été érigé en 1972. Et les gens ont pensé. D'accord, s'il est déjà là, autant en faire un point de repère. Et c'est ce qui s'est passé.
