Dem "allwissenden" Internet nennt sich das Motiv "Dean Village". Das bedeutet "Dorf im tiefen Tal". Am Fluss gab es früher viele Wassermühlen.

To the "all-knowing" Internet, the motif is called "Dean Village". This means "village in the deep valley". There used to be many water mills along the river.

Pour l'Internet "omniscient", le motif s'appelle "Dean Village". Cela signifie "village dans la vallée profonde". Il y avait autrefois de nombreux moulins à eau le long de la rivière.

Wieso nennt man einen Ort "Untere Schlachtungs-Wassermühle"? Scheinbar liebt man in den Cotswolds solche blumigen (blutigen?) Beschreibungen. Aber das kennen wir ja auch aus den Inspector Barnaby Krimis.

Why do they call a place "Lower Slaughter Water Mill"? Apparently they love such flowery (bloody?) descriptions in the Cotswolds. But then, we know that from the Midsummer Mysteries with Inspector Barnaby.

Pourquoi appellent-ils un lieu "Moulin à eau d'abattage inférieur" ? Apparemment, ils aiment ces descriptions fleuries (sanglantes ?) dans les Cotswolds. Mais nous connaissons cela aussi dans les romans policiers de l'inspecteur Barnaby.

Das vorgestrige Motiv schrie noch nach Farbe und so habe ich es noch einmal skizziert. Ehrlich gesagt gefällt mir die S/W Version besser. Und ihr so?

The previous day's motif still cried out for color and so I sketched it again. To be honest, I like the B/W version better. What about you?

Le motif d'avant-hier réclamait encore de la couleur et je l'ai donc esquissé à nouveau. Honnêtement, je préfère la version en noir et blanc. Et vous?

Das Haus erinnert mich an das Gebäude bei Monty Pythons »Accountancy Shanty«. Hierin werden ältere Büroangestellte zu Piraten und nehmen den Kampf gegen das Finanzwesen auf. 

The house reminds me of the building in Monty Python's "Accountancy Shanty". Here, older office workers become pirates and take up the fight against the financial system.

La maison me rappelle le bâtiment du film "Accountancy Shanty" des Monty Python. Ici, des employés de bureau âgés deviennent des pirates et luttent contre le système financier.

Gestern und heute also Frankreich. Das ist ein Blick auf das auf den Klippen des linken Lot-Ufers gelegenen Örtchens Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. Dort haben wir vor gefühlt 20 Jahren bei einer Urlaubsfahrt mit dem Pénichette-Hausboot angelegt und ich bin mit dem Boots-Klapprad den steilen Weg bergauf geradelt. um im Ort Baguettes und Croissants fürs Frühstück zu erstehen. Mein Schwager und ich können uns immer noch gut an die schöne Bäckerin erinnern.

So yesterday and today France. This is a view of the little village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, situated on the cliffs of the left bank of the Lot. We docked there 20 years ago on a vacation trip with the Pénichette houseboat and I cycled up the steep path with the folding bike to buy baguettes and croissants for breakfast in the village. My brother-in-law and I can still remember the beautiful baker girl well.

Donc hier et aujourd'hui la France. Voici une vue du petit village de Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, situé sur les falaises de la rive gauche du Lot. Nous y avons accosté il y a 20 ans lors d'un voyage avec la Pénichette et j'ai remonté le chemin escarpé avec le vélo pliant pour acheter des baguettes et des croissants pour le petit-déjeuner dans le village. Mon frère-conjoint et moi nous souvenons encore bien de la belle boulangère.
