The international Urban Sketcher Symposium began on Wednesday. I arrived on Tuesday and sketched the market square and town hall in pleasant summer temperatures.

The sketch walk I led at SKETCHCON took the sketchers to Sketch City—no, Nordstadt! Thirty years ago, street battles between the police and anarchists took place there. The area is still strongly influenced by politics.
La promenade que j'ai guidée lors du SKETCHCON a conduit les dessinateurs à Sketch City – non, Nordstadt ! Il y a trente ans, des affrontements de rue entre la police et des anarchistes ont eu lieu là-bas. La région est encore fortement influencée par la politique.

Earlier on Friday, Malook and Tina took us on their Sketchwalk through the List district, which also included a visit to St. Mark's Church.
Plus tôt dans la journée de vendredi, Malook et Tina nous ont emmenés faire leur Sketchwalk à travers le quartier List, qui comprenait également une visite à l'église Saint-Marc.

On the second day of our SKETCHCON symposium, we drew the town hall in the evening. As the wind was very cold and the temperature was dropping, we didn't wait for sunset.

Bei der SKETCHCON habe ich als Organisator nicht viel selber skizzieren können - aber für einen kurzen Sketch in der List musste die Zeit reichen. Im anderen Bild seht ihr einmal, wie es beim Sketchwalk aussah. Es waren rund 60 Leute dabei :))
As the organizer of SKETCHCON, I didn't have much time to sketch myself—but I managed to squeeze in a quick sketch in the List. The other picture shows what the sketch walk looked like. Around 60 people took part :))
En tant qu'organisateur de SKETCHCON, je n'ai pas eu beaucoup de temps pour dessiner moi-même, mais j'ai réussi à faire un croquis rapide dans la liste. L'autre image montre à quoi ressemblait la promenade artistique. Environ 60 personnes y ont participé :))

Thematically and spatially, we jump back to Hanover, where I found a motif among the high-rise buildings and concrete functional buildings. The weather and atmosphere were magnificent as always.
Sur le plan thématique et géographique, nous retournons à Hanovre, où j'ai finalement trouvé un motif parmi les gratte-ciel et les bâtiments fonctionnels en béton. Le temps et l'ambiance étaient, comme toujours, magnifiques.

Ich übe zwischendurch immer wieder Brush Pen Skizzen in s/w und Grautönen. Warum? Als Grundlage sind die Tonwerte eines Bildes wichtig - Was mit Schwarz und Weiß und einem Grauton als Bild funktioniert, funktioniert auch in Farbe.
I regularly practice brush pen sketches in black and white and shades of gray. Why? The tonal values of an image are important as a basis—what works with black and white and a shade of gray as an image also works in color.
Je m'entraîne régulièrement à réaliser des croquis au pinceau en noir et blanc et dans les tons gris. Pourquoi ? Les valeurs tonales d'une image sont importantes comme base : ce qui fonctionne en noir et blanc et dans les tons gris fonctionne également en couleur.

Oh dear, I made a mistake with the lettering. Of course, it was Lindener Hafen where we sat in the evening sun and drew it.

By chance, my route took me through the Bothfeld district of Hanover. There is an old guild house there belonging to the Vogtland carpenters. It is beautiful to look at and sketch.
Par hasard, mon chemin m'a conduit dans le quartier Bothfeld de Hanovre. On y trouve une ancienne maison de corporation des charpentiers du Vogtland. Elle est agréable à regarder et à dessiner.
