Unter Kommissar Lunels Baskenmütze hob sich eine buschige Augenbraue und eine kühne Theorie schob sich unverhofft in seine Gedanken. »Sie wollen mir doch nicht allen Ernstes weißmachen, dass ihr Gatte nach dem tragischen Tod des Chauffeurs nie wieder nach dem Fahrzeug geschaut hat, Madame?« »Mais bien sûr, Monsieur le Commissaire. Alfonse konnte schließlich gar nicht selber fahren und ein Verkauf des Fahrzeugs kam für ihn selbstverständlich nicht in Frage.«

Doch nur die sommersprossige Marie-Claire hatte den auffälligen Wagen vor dem Juweliergeschäft beobachtet. Der Rest des Departements hockte gebannt vor den wenigen Fernsehbildschirmen. Während sie missmutig gelaunt zur Bar Tabac geschlendert war, um Madame eine neue Packung Muratti Ambassador zu besorgen.

Es war der 21. Juli 1969.

But only the freckled Marie-Claire had noticed the flashy car outside the jewelry store. The rest of the department sat glued to the few television screens. While she was strolling grumpy-mooded to the Bar Tabac to get a new pack of Muratti Ambassador for Madame. It was Sunday afternoon, July 21, 1969.

Die »Colors of the Year« sind »Rose Quartz« und »Serenity« sind brandneu.

Also ein Babyblau und ein Babyrosa - na prima ;)

Der Truck, den ich mit diesem im Wortsinne »beschränkten« Farbmix gestaltet habe, hat indes schon ein paar Jahre auf dem Buckel. Nicht nur der braucht dann und wann Starthilfe.

The brand new »Colors of the Year« are »Rose Quartz« and »Serenity«.

So it's a baby blue and baby pink - uhm - well - what?  ;)

However, the truck, which I have created with this (in the literal sense) »limited« color mix, has a few years under its belts. But not only this vehicle now and then needs a jumpstart.

Beim sonntäglichen Besuch des Luftfahrtmuseums in Hannover-Laatzen skizzierte ich diese weltgrößte einmotorige Doppeldeckerpassagiermaschine von 1947. Zuhause setzte ich das noch in ein Acrylbild um.

During my Sunday visit to the aviation museum in Hannover-Laatzen I sketched this largest single-engine biplane airliner from 1947. Back home I enchanted it into an acrylic painting.

Weiter auf dem Zeitstrahl der Erinnerung. Mein erstes Auto war ein VW Golf von 1979, den wir für 800 DM kauften. Während des Studiums in Aachen und auch danach leistete er uns gute Dienste. Hier steht es vor der Fachhochschule für Design im Boxgraben in Aaachen.

Next on the timeline of my remembrance. My first car was a Volkswagen Golf from 1979. We payed about 800 Deutsch Marks. While studying in Aachen and afterwards he served us well. Here it stands in front of the College of Design on the Boxgraben in Aix -La-Chapelle.

Samstag habe ich in der Kinderabteilung eines Bekleidungsfachgeschäfts die seltsam und schlecht gemachte Cartoonserie »Mr. Bean« gesehen. Okay, wir haben keinen Fernseher zuhause... Eigentlich finde ich den alten Mini und Mr. Bean echt kultig, aber so ein richtiger Fan bin ich nicht. 
Das gilt für beide.

Saturday, one of those odd (and really bad produced) cartoon series »Mr. Bean« series was shown in the kiddies section of a clothes shop. Okay, we do not have TV at home ... Actually I like the old Mini and Mr. Bean – but I'am far from being a true fan. 
This applies to both, the Mini and the Bean.

Als alter Veteran hat dieser Ford Van sicher schon wahnsinnig viel transportiert. Auch wenn er ein wenig ramponiert aussieht, ist das ein komplett im »Shabby Chic« restauriertes Modell, wenn man das so nennt bei Oldtimerfans.

As an old veteran, this Ford Van certainly has certainly carried pretty much stuff. Although it looks completely torn down, that is a completely restored model. Do classic car fans also call this »shabby chic«?

Dieser schöne alte Pick-Up-Truck stand dereinst im schönen Toronto und musste bis jetzt auf seine Umsetzung als Daily Painting warten. Ich habe versucht, den Hintergrund bewusst zu vernachlässigen und unscharf werden zu lassen. 

This beautiful old pickup truck once happened to wait on the streetside one beautiful day in the wonderful Toronto. I had to wait quite a long time until its conversion into a daily painting. I have tried to neglect the background and to blur it somehow.
