Am Sonntag war mein Thema "Urban Sketching" und ich habe mehrere Demos zu dem Thema gemacht in verschiedenen Techniken - mal schnell und mal noch schneller. Die NYC Szene gehörte vor ein paar Jahren mal zum Standardrepertoire bei meinen Kurz-Demos.

On Sunday, my topic was “urban sketching,” and I did several demonstrations on the subject using different techniques—some quick and some even quicker. A few years ago, the NYC scene was part of my standard repertoire for short demonstrations.

Dimanche, mon thème était « Urban Sketching » et j'ai fait plusieurs démonstrations sur ce sujet en utilisant différentes techniques, certaines rapides, d'autres encore plus rapides. Il y a quelques années, la scène new-yorkaise faisait partie de mon répertoire standard pour mes courtes démonstrations.

On Sunday, there were further short demonstrations on the topic of “urban sketching.” This was quickly created using colored pencils, oil pastels, etc.

Dimanche, d'autres courtes démonstrations ont eu lieu sur le thème du « croquis urbain ». Celui-ci a été rapidement réalisé à l'aide de crayons de couleur, de pastels à l'huile, etc.

Die Ausstellung "Niki Kusama Murakami" im Sprengel Museum in Hannover ist liebvoll präsentiert. Eigentlich bin ich kein Fanboy von Niki aber einige ihrer Arbeiten sind schon verrückt und eindrucksvoll. 

The “Niki Kusama Murakami” exhibition at the Sprengel Museum in Hanover is lovingly presented. I'm not actually a fanboy of Niki's, but some of her works are crazy and impressive. 

L'exposition « Niki Kusama Murakami » au musée Sprengel de Hanovre est présentée avec beaucoup d'amour. Je ne suis pas vraiment un fan de Niki, mais certaines de ses œuvres sont vraiment folles et impressionnantes.

Schöner Sketching-Termin im Circus Roncalli, der uns wieder einmal als Sketcher-Truppe herzlich willkommen hieß. Der dienstälteste Weiß-Clown Gensi gab uns ein Ständchen auf der Quetschkommode.

A wonderful sketching session at Circus Roncalli, which once again gave us a warm welcome as a group of sketchers. Gensi, the longest-serving white clown, serenaded us on the accordion.

Une merveilleuse séance de croquis au cirque Roncalli, qui nous a une fois de plus réservé un accueil chaleureux en tant que groupe de dessinateurs. Gensi, le clown blanc le plus ancien, nous a joué une sérénade à l'accordéon.

A somewhat “looser” approach to painting a landscape in acrylics. It needs to be a little quicker, as the demonstrations for boesner at infa next week need to be entertaining and fast-paced.

Une approche un peu plus « décontractée » pour peindre un paysage à l'acrylique. Il faut aller un peu plus vite, car les démonstrations pour boesner à l'infa la semaine prochaine doivent être divertissantes et rapides.

This reminds me a bit of a house in the jungle. I find that the black-and-white versions sometimes look almost like graphic novels. That wasn't the intention, but I like it.

Cela me rappelle un peu une maison dans la jungle. Je trouve que les versions en noir et blanc ont parfois un aspect presque bande dessinée. Ce n'était pas prévu, mais j'aime bien.

Etwa zehn Kilometer von Sarlat enfernt liegt die Burg von Castelnaud. Im Hundertjährigen Krieg diente sie abwechselnd als englisches und französisches Lager. Während der Religionskriege wurde sie Geoffrey de Vivans anvertraut (dem "Zänker"). Danach wurde sie Wohnburg und in der französischen Revolution verlassen. Sie verfiel und wurde als Steinbruch genutzt. Nach 1966 begann die spektakuläre Restaurierung. In den Dordogne-Krimis von Martin Walker spielt sie in einigen Bänden eine Rolle als Schauplatz.

The castle of Castelnaud is located about ten kilometers from Sarlat. During the Hundred Years' War, it served alternately as an English and French camp. During the Wars of Religion, it was entrusted to Geoffrey de Vivans (the “Quarrelsome”). It then became a residential castle and was abandoned during the French Revolution. It fell into disrepair and was used as a quarry. After 1966, spectacular restoration work began. It plays a role as a setting in several volumes of Martin Walker's Dordogne crime novels.

Le château de Castelnaud est situé à une dizaine de kilomètres de Sarlat. Pendant la guerre de Cent Ans, il servit tour à tour de camp anglais et français. Pendant les guerres de religion, il fut confié à Geoffroy de Vivans (le « Querelleur »). Il devint ensuite un château résidentiel et fut abandonné pendant la Révolution française. Il tomba en ruine et fut utilisé comme carrière. Après 1966, une restauration spectaculaire commença. Il joue un rôle de décor dans plusieurs volumes des romans policiers de Martin Walker se déroulant en Dordogne.

The Cadillac was parked in front of the hall where the evening Drink&Draw event for the Germany meeting was taking place. Next door, the premiere of the musical Elvis was happening.

La Cadillac était garée devant la salle où se déroulait la soirée Drink&Draw organisée dans le cadre du rassemblement allemand. À côté, avait lieu la première de la comédie musicale Elvis.

Dem Naschmarkt konnte ich ganz gut widerstehen. Auch, weil ich an den süßen Sachen gar nicht so arg interessiert bin. Dem schönen U-Bahn-Häuschen nebenan bin ich jedoch sofort (zeichnerisch) verfallen. 

I was able to resist the market of delicacies quite well, partly because I'm not that sweet tooth. However, I immediately fell in love (in my drawings) with the beautiful subway station next door.

Je n'ai pas eu de mal à résister au marché des délices, en partie parce que je ne suis pas très friand de sucreries. En revanche, je suis immédiatement tombé sous le charme (dans mes dessins) de la jolie station de métro voisine.

Das Gebäude wurde 1897/1898 nach der Abspaltung vom traditionellen Wiener Kunstbetrieb  (Secession) einiger Künstler wie u.a. Klimt, Moser, Kurzweil und Hölzel zum traditionellen Kunstbewegung der Gründung der gleichlautenden Künstlerbewegung errichtet. 

The building was build after the traditional Viennese art scene (Secession) split off by a number of artists, including Klimt, Moser, Kurzweil, and Hölzel, to form the traditional art movement of the same name. 

Le bâtiment a été construit après la scène artistique traditionnelle viennoise (Sécession) dont se sont séparés plusieurs artistes, dont Klimt, Moser, Kurzweil et Hölzel, pour former le mouvement artistique traditionnel du même nom.
