Nach meinen neuesten Skizzen wollte ich ja nun auch »frei« das ganze in Acryl umsetzen. Was nicht auf den Skizzen ist wird erfunden oder aus dem Gedächtnis hinzugefügt. Damit entsteht etwas ganz Neues, was eben nicht nur »abgemalt« ist.
After my recent sketches I now tried to paint this "free" in acrylics. What is missing in the sketches is added from memory or improvised. This creates something new, not just "photo-copied".

Ein weiterer Blick auf die Yonge St, wo der »Hauptplatz« Torontos ist. Ich habe nicht mitbekommen, worum es in dieser Plakatwerbung am Dundas Square ging. Wahrscheinlich was mit Mode. Ich finde die Skizze besser als das fertig gemalte Bild. Muss ich mir Sorgen machen?

Bin irgendwie wieder im Großstadtfieber gelandet.
Dass nicht nur der Autoverkehr dort gefährlich ist, sondern auch der Datenverkehr, zeigt eine gut gemachte "Scam"-Mail, die ich letzte Woche bekam. Ein englischsprachiger Interessent wollte gleich zwei größere Bilder kaufen. Nach ausgiebigem Lob und weiteren "künstlerischen" Nachfragen kam dann der Wunsch das Bild zu erwerben. Es war mir gleich suspekt, dass er das nicht über PayPal machen wollte oder konnte. Schließlich bekam ich ungefragt per Post einen Scheck aus England über den 5-fachen Betrag. Nun klingelten die Alarmglocken und ich informierte meine Auktionsplattform und befragte das allwissende Orakel Internet. Der Käufer gab auf Nachfrage an, sein Buchhalter habe einen Fehler gemacht, da er gerade Vater geworden sei und bla bla bla... Noch mehr Alarmglocken! Ich fand daraufhin Dutzende Seiten im www, die den exakten Text der dubiosen Mail und den Ablauf widergeben. Letztendlich soll man den Scheck einlösen und den irrtümlich zuviel notierten Betrag dann auf ein anderes Konto zurücküberweisen. Der Scheck ist natürlich nicht echt oder nicht gedeckt... Fazit: Zum Glück habe ich aufgepasst. Ich werde auch weiterhin nur Barzahlung und gesicherte PayPal-Zahlungen akzeptieren...
Somehow I stranded in a big city fever.
Not only car traffic is dangerous here, but also the data-traffic. This shows a well-crafted "Scam-Mail" that I got last week. An English prospective wanted to buy two larger pictures. After extensive praise and other "artistic" demands came the desire to acquire the painting. It sounds a bit suspect to me that he did not want to make the deal via PayPal. Finally I got an unasked cheque from England about 5 times the amount. Now the alarm bells were ringing and I informed my auction platform and asked the almighty internet. The buyer answered, his accountant made a terrific mistake because he had been to busy since the birth of his chold and blah blah blah ... even more alarm bells! Then I found ten dozens of websites reflecting the exact dubious text of this email. Ultimately, I should cash the check and then remit the excess payment to another account.
Conclusion: Fortunately, I had been taking care. I will continue to only accept cash and secure PayPal payments...

Die gestrige Vorführung war sehr belebt und man hat akribisch jeden Pinselstrich verfolgt. Danke fürs emsige Zuhören. Ich denke, es hat vielen etwas gebracht. Wir haben auch eine schöne Brücke im Georgengarten mit Erwin Kastner skizziert. Dann kam plötzlich Wind und ein kurzer aber heftiger Regenschauer, der uns zurück in die Kunstfabrik trieb. Das Motiv habe ich als Aquarell gemalt und heute zusätzlich als Acrylbild. Könnte auch ein Motiv für meine Vorführung am kommenden Samstag von 11-13 Uhr bei boesner in Hannover werden. We have also outlined a beautiful bridge in King George's Garden with Erwin Kastner. Suddenly there came a wind and rain, which fought us back to the Artfactory. I painted a watercolor and today also an acrylic painting after this sketch. Could also be a sample for my presentation next Sat. from 11-13 Clock at boesner in Hannover.

Dieses Eckhaus war unser Thema beim dritten und letzten Tag des Workshops mit Erwin Kastner in der Kunstfabrik Hannover. »An superleiwand Kurs«, wie der Österreicher sagen würde. Ich habe viel dazugelernt und habe nun einen weiteren Zugang zum Aquarell und zur Malerei gefunden. Danke Erwin!
This corner house was our theme at the third and last day of the workshop with Erwin Kastner in the Artfactory Hanover. A »superleiwand« workshop as the Austrians would say. I have learned a lot and have found another access to watercolor and painting in general. Thanks Erwin!

Der erster Workshop-Tag bei Erwin Kastner brachte einen neuen Tuschestift in mein Leben, den ich nun wohl auch häufiger zum Skizzieren verwenden werde. Wir haben draußen vor der Kunstfabrik die alten Platanen vor einem Garagendurchgang gezeichnet. Drinnen wurde dann das Gesehene im spontan-realistischen Stil nach E. Kastner umgesetzt. Morgen mehr... Ich läute hiermit 3 weitere »Aquarelltage« ein: Ab heute bin ich bei einem dreitägigen Kurs des bekannten österreichischen Aquarellisten Erwin Kastner in der Kunstfabrik Hannover zu Gange. Die ersten Ergebnisse gibt es hoffentlich morgen zu sehen.
Mit Acryl geht es danach wieder verstärkt weiter.
Gondola Shipyard I'm announcing another 3 Watercolor-Days. As of today I am at a a 3-day-workshop with the famous Austrian watercolourist Erwin Kastner in the Artfactory Hannover. The first results you can see tomorrow.

Dies ist das Unabhängige Jugendzentrum Glocksee in Hannover. Eine Menge Motive. Ist aber bei der Skizze geblieben. Die zweite ist dann auf den Hund gekommen. Da der Originale nicht posen wollte, gibt es »Russi«.

Heute war mir nach Venedig. Wasser, Hitze und gemütliches dolce far niente. Im Garten zu malen kommt dem schon recht nahe. Zumindest die Hitze war da.
Venetian Reflections
Today I was reflecting about Venice. Water, heat and cozy idleness. To paint in the garden comes close to it. Except for the water and the dolce far niente.

Die Sommerhitze nimmt noch zu. Je weniger Kleidung desto besser. Auch wenn ich niemals sowas tragen könnte (mit irgendwas zwischen den Zehen), sind Sandalen am Fuß daher momentan sehr beliebt.
Summer Flops
The summer heat is still increasing. No flop at all. The fewer clothes the better. Even though I never could wear such sandals (with something between my toes), those kind of shoes currently is very popular.

Gestern habe ich zum dritten Mal in Folge im Garten malen können. Scheint nun wirklich Sommer zu sein. Im Atelier waren zwar auch "nur" 26°C, aber in der Sonne am Fenster zeigte das Thermometer 40°C. Die Wildrose jedenfalls freute sich über die ungewohnte Aufmerksamkeit.
1415 Dog Rose
For the third time in a row I painted in the garden. Now it really seems to be summer. In my studio it had 79 degrees fahrenheit. But at the window in the sun (where I used to paint) the thermometer showed 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Die Henriette ist ein kleiner Fischkutter und daher verwandt mit dem großen Pott von gestern. Die kleine liegt gerade auf dem Trockendock in Skagen und wird aufpoliert. Nennt man das bei Schiffen auch »liften lassen«? Little Sister The Henriette is a small fishing boat and therefore akin to the big pot of yesterday. She's being revamped in the dry dock of Skagen. Is this also called »facelifting«?

Ein großer Trawler im Hafen von Skagen wartet auf seine Weiterfahrt. Im Atelier war es heute schon zu heiß – Das Malen im Garten kann also weitergehen. In Nymindegabe (in Dänemarks Westen bei Hvinde Sande) gibt es kleine reetgedeckte Fischerhäuschen, die von einem Verein in Stand gehalten werden. Ebenso werden die historischen Boote dort gepflegt. Das Bild, das ich vor Ort malte, war leider zu schlecht. Vielleicht lag es am beißend kalten Wind? Darum habe ich es nochmal in Ruhe in der Sonne im heimischen Garten gemalt.
Ship at the bait huts
In Nymindegabe (at Hvinde Sande in Western Denmark) there are little thatched fishermen's houses, which are protected by a private society. Likewise, the historic boats are maintained there. The picture that I painted on spot, was too bad. Maybe it was because of the biting cold wind? That's why I painted it again in my sunny garden today.

Heute die Scheluse von Ballum von 1915, welche die Nordsee vom Brede Å trennt. Und wie versprochen ein Bild vom modernen Århus mit seinem "Magasin" Kaufhaus Today the Lock of Ballum (1915) which separates the North Sea from the River Brede. And as promised, a sketch from modern Århus with the "Magasin" Store.
Das Foto von meiner heutigen Zeichnung von etwas "Modernem" ist leider nicht ganz so gut so geworden. Wird nachgeliefert... daher das andere Urban Sketching vom Åboulevarden aus, an dem wir mehrere Stunden gesessen und gegessen und gezeichnet haben. Früher war hier eine normale Straße, jetzt wurde der alte Kanal reaktiviert und es gibt viele Restaurants am Kanal. Auch Fressmeile genannt. Aber schön und stilvoll. Today's photo of something "more modern" was too bad, so thus is the other urban sketching I made from the Åboulevarden. In former times it was a normal street, but now the old canal has been reactivated. We lounged and lunched there for several hiurs and did some sketches. Århus is really a friendly and lobely city with atmosphere. A good place to be.
Ja, schon wieder etwas mit "gammel" im Namen... Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass die Dänen scheinbar viel Wert auf Tradition legen und ihre Sehenswürdigkeiten uynd alten Viertel eben nicht alle im Krieg zerstört wurden. In Århus gibt es aber auch ganz viele topmoderne Museen und Dinge, die wir uns heute ansehen werden. Yes, again something with "Gammel" in the title. Gammel means old in Danish... Maybe it's because the Danes apparently put great emphasis on tradition and not all of its monuments had been destroyed during WWII. So there's much more original stuff here. In Aarhus, there are also quite a lot of top modern museums and things we will visit and look at today.

Dieses Bild habe ich gestern mit Begeisterung nachmittag in meinem Urlaub in Dänemark gemalt. Nur mal so... Urlaub ist für andere ja, nur faul am Strand rumzuhängen oder in Museen rumzulaufen. Bei mir gehört die eine oder andere tägliche Skizze oder ein Acrylbild oder Aquarell dazu. I enjoyed painting this yesterday afternoon during my vacation in Denmark. For others this may seems to be a bit crazy... they just like hanging out lazy on the beach or maybe walking around in museums. For me, one or the another daily sketch or a watercolor or acrylic painting is part of it.
Schon wieder "gammelt's". Da weiß man doch gleich, es kommt etwas Altes. Diesmal ist es der alte Herrensitz der Scheels aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, welcher nun auch dem Pöbel aus aller Welt zugänglich gemacht ist. Natürlich nur teilweise ;)
Again "old stuff". This time it's the old manor house from the 14th century. Here lived the Scheel's dynasty. Nowadays it is open also to the mob from around the world ;)
