Erinnert sich noch jemand an die Égoïste Parfum-Werbung von 1990? Siebenundzwanzig bildhübsche Frauen beschimpfen den "Egoisten", der wohl hinter dem 28. Fenster schläft. Hierfür öffnen und schließen sich rhythmisch die Fensterläden eines dem Hotel Carlton in Cannes nachempfundenen Hauses. Die Vermutung liegt nahe, dass er die ganze Nacht in diesen Zimmern zum Amusement unterwegs war. 

Heute seht ihr, was aus dem Egoisten 28 Jahre später geworden ist.

Does anyone remember the Égoïste perfume ad from 1990? Twenty-seven beautiful women insult the "egoist" who is probably sleeping behind the 28th window. For this, the shutters of a house (modelled on the Hotel Carlton in Cannes) open and close rhythmically.  It seems likely that he spent the whole night amusing himself in these rooms. 

Today you can see what happened to the egoist 28 years later. 

Quelqu'un se souvient-il de la publicité pour le parfum égoïste de 1990 ? Vingt-sept belles femmes insultent "l'égoïste" qui dort probablement derrière la 28e fenêtre. Pour cela, les volets d'une maison (sur le modèle de l'hôtel Carlton à Cannes) s'ouvrent et se ferment rythmiquement. L'hypothèse laisse supposer qu'il a passé toute la nuit dans ces pièces pour son amusement. 

Aujourd'hui, vous pouvez voir ce qui est arrivé à l'égoïste 28 ans plus tard.

In südlichen Ländern haben die Bewohner der höher gelegenen Etagen am Abend oft den "Nachteil", noch die kräftig die Sonne aussperren zu müssen, während die unten wohnenden Mieter die Fensterläden schon zum Durchlüften öffnen dürfen. Bei uns im Norden sind wir normalerweise ja froh über jeden Sonnenstrahl. 

In southern countries, the inhabitants of the higher floors often have a "disadvantage": They have to shut out the sun in the evening, while the tenants living below are allowed to open the shutters for ventilation. Here in the north we are usually happy about each sunbeam. 

Dans les pays du Sud, les habitants des étages supérieurs ont souvent un "désavantage" : Ils doivent rester fermer les volets, tandis que les locataires vivant en dessous sont autorisés à ouvrir les fenêtres pour la ventilation. Ici, dans le nord, nous sommes généralement heureux de chaque rayon de soleil.

Der Blick durch fremde Fenster ist auch immer ein voyeuristischer. Dass mich beim Fotografieren meist keiner schief ansieht, liegt daran, dass ich viele der Aufnahmen schräg aus der Hüfte schieße.

The view through other people' s windows is always voyeuristic. The reason why most people don't look at me crooked when taking pictures is that I shoot many of the pictures from the hip.

La vue à travers d'étranges fenêtres est aussi toujours voyeuriste. Le fait que personne ne me regarde de travers quand je prends des photos est dû au fait que je prends beaucoup de photos sans m'arrêter.

Warmes Licht fällt auf die alten Hauswände der Stadt. Von drinnen zieht der Duft von Knoblauchgemüse und frisch geröstetem Brot durch die Gassen. Maurice sitzt indessen  auf der alten Bank vorm Haus und schmöckt an seiner Pfeife.

Evening Scent

Warm light falls on the old walls of the town. From inside the smell of garlic vegetables and freshly roasted bread runs through the alleys. Meanwhile Maurice sits on the old bench in front of the house and smokes his pipe.

Odeur du Soir

La lumière chaude tombe sur les vieux murs des maisons de la ville. De l'intérieur, l'odeur des légumes à l'ail et du pain fraisse répand dans les rues. Entre-temps, Maurice s'assoit sur le vieux banc devant sa maison et fume sa pipe.

Durch die Stadt führt ein Cézanne-Rundgang, auf denen man auf den Spuren des Künstlers wandeln kann. Was er in dieser dunkeln Gasse wollte, wurde aber nicht überliefert.
