Leider waren die Klostergärten, anders als in der Tageszeitung angegeben doch nicht geöffnet. Nur bei einer Führung 6 Stunden später... So habe ich dann eben das Kloster von außen gemalt, während ich unter einer Schatten spendenden uralten Weide am Löschteich stand. So kann der Sommer weitergehen, auch wenn es noch heißer wird.

Monastery Wuelfinghausen 

Unfortunately, the monastery gardens, unlike stated in the newspaper were closed. Only on a guided tour 6 hours later ... So I painted the monastery from the outside, while I was standing in the shadow of an old willow at the fire pond. I hope the summer goes on like this, even if it gets hotter than today (85° Fahrenheit).

Die Lister Meile ist eine schöne Einkaufsmeile und Fußgängerzone im benachbarten Stadtteil List. Hier lässt es sich schön flanieren und bummeln. Und hier ist viel mehr Flair, als in der City.

The Lister Mile is a nice shopping street and pedestrian zone in the neighboring district of List. Here the shops and houses are nicer and are more charming than in the inner city.

Windsleeves in disbelief

​Soon Germany will be crowded again with three colored flags (black-red-gold). 

You know, soccer world cup and so... On the Aegi Square in Hanover it's only the harmless and nice windsleeves. They are standing in a beautiful grassy landscape of an former art event, providing the view to the theater.

Daher mussten schon fast alle, die uns besucht haben, dort mit rein.

Aber auch das Fachwerk-Bauernhaus ist einfach toll.

And then there is Hanover's only Australian restaurant. 

Within walking distance (as the estate agents love to say) away from us. 

Therefore, almost all friends who visited us had to accompany us to eat there.

And the half-timbered farmhouse is just great.

Ich wünsche allen Wolken eine schöne Heimreise.

Möget ihr euch irgendwo zusammenballen, wo ihr keinen Schaden anrichten könnt. Nach dem nervigen Dauerregen sollte es heute eigentlich besser werden. Ich habe heute eine Technik probiert, die ich auf YouTube gefunden hatte. Klappt bei mir aber nicht, habe also wieder meine eigene verwendet.

Yesterday I spent a nice and not too strenuous day in my garden. 

In between I took an extended walk through my neighborhood to the election office.

1011 Rhododendron

Unser Busch vorm Haus ist nun auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Blüte angekommen. 

Ich habe das Bild dann auch direkt draußen im strahlenden Sonnenschein gemalt. 

Durch die sehr helle Umgebung neigt man dazu, das Motiv insgesamt zu dunkel zu malen; was auch hier passiert ist. Denn die Blüten sind eigentlich viel heller.

Das Gesamtergebnis gefällt mir dennoch.

Our bush in front of the house has now reached the height of its bloom. 

So I painted it right directly outside in the sunshine. 

Due to the very bright environment you tend to paint the subject too dark; what happened here. Because the flowers are actually much brighter. 

But the overall result still pleases me.

1010 Point Reyes

Der Leuchtturm von Point Reyes an der Kalifornischen Pazifikküste auf der gleichnamigen Halbinsel liegt in Marin County nordwestlich von San Francisco. 

Allein beim Schreiben dieser Namen überkommt mich bereits ein tiefes Fernweh nach Sonne, Meer und American Way of Life. Weniger romantisch ist allerdings der Nebel an dieser Stelle mit der zweithäufigsten Auftretenswahrscheinlichkeit Nordamerikas.

Deswegen wurde hier wohl auch der Horrorstreifen »The Fog - Nebel de Grauens« gedreht. (Quelle: Eigene Erfahrung und wikipedia)

The Point Reyes Light on the California Pacific Coast on the peninsula is located northwest of San Francisco in Marin County. Just by writing these names a deep longing for sun, sea and the American way of life is coming over me. However, less romantic is , that fog at this point has the second most common occurrence probability of North America. That is the reason for shooting the horror movie »The Fog« right here. (source: own experience and dear old wikipedia).
