Dieses Woche starten Köln, das Rheinland und alle anderen Jecken in die Fünfte Jahreszeit.
Da muss auch mal der Dom das Motiv sein.

We leave the Cologne Cathedral in Cologne, because there it belongs to.

Also last week we went to the theatre before we went to the pub (haha). In the foyer you can sketch through the windows. This week I'm on the road in the north for Urban Sketching training courses. Zwischen der DDR und der Bundesrepublik gab es übrigens vor der Wende keine Botschaften, sondern "Ständige Vertretungen". Daher der Name,

On Wednesday we went to the StäV (which means "Permanent Representation ") in Hanover. This is a cult pub, which in 1997, after the Bundestag's move from Bonn to Berlin, brought the parliamentarians a bit of the Rhineland atmosphere to the capital. By the way, there were no diplomatic representations between the GDR and the Federal Republic before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Hence the name.

Heute beginne ich mit einigen skizzenhaften Acrylbildern.

Die Arbeitsweise ist folgende: 

• Abkleben des Formates auf dem Malpapier. 

• Anlegen der Skizze – hier mit schwarzem Kugelschreiber (!)

• Anlegen der schwarz / weiß Untermalung

• Schließlich Einbringen der farbigen Elemente von dunkel nach hell

• Zeitaufwand ca. 1 Std.

• Ziel ist es, das Skizzenhafte zu erhalten

• Dieses Verfahren zeige ich auch in meinem spannenden Kurs 

vom 9.–11. März 2018  in der Kunstfabrik Hannover an. 

• Es sind noch Plätze frei :)

From Sketch to Painting — Streetscene lisbon

Today I start with some sketchy acrylic paintings.

The method of operation is as follows: 

• Tape the format on the drawing paper. 

• Apply the sketch - here with a black ballpoint pen (!)

• Put on the black / white value painting

• Finally, insertion of the colored elements from dark to light

• Time approx. 1 hour 

• The aim is to preserve the sketchy quality of the work.

• I also show this procedure as a three-day class

at the Kunstfabrik Hannover from 9 to 11 March 2018.

Weiß auf weiß zu malen ist immer eine Herausforderung. Am besten funktioniert das mit abwechselnden Tonwerten von hell nach dunkel und dann wieder hell. 

Ach, und ich finde diese kurvigen Formen einfach toll :)

Es gibt eine LP von Alice Cooper, die heißt Lace and Whiskey. Ich dachte jahrelang, es seien Schuhbänder (auch: laces) gemeint. Aber es war natürlich "Spitze" gemeint, sprich die von Dessous.

(LP heißt übrigens Langspiel-Platte. Das sind die alten schwarzen Dinger, die man früher statt CD's -nee- statt Music-Streaming auf den Plattenspieler legte, um Music zu hören - seufz! Obwohl: Die schwarzen Dinger sind ja inzwischen wieder retro und damit also hip!) 

Red Shoelaces

There's an LP by Alice Cooper called Lace and Whiskey. For years, I thought it meant shoelaces. But of course it was meant "lace", that's lingerie.

(LP, by the way, is called long-playing record. These are the old black things that used to be put on the turntable instead of CD's -no- instead of music streaming services - sigh! Although: The black things are now retro again and therefore hip!
