Darum habe ich schnell noch ein Dead Panda Graffitti draufgepinselt.

Is there Pandas in the South of France?

Somehow the facade of the right house looked empty and desolate.

That's why I quickly yet painted a Dead Panda Graffitti on it.

Unter Kommissar Lunels Baskenmütze hob sich eine buschige Augenbraue und eine kühne Theorie schob sich unverhofft in seine Gedanken. »Sie wollen mir doch nicht allen Ernstes weißmachen, dass ihr Gatte nach dem tragischen Tod des Chauffeurs nie wieder nach dem Fahrzeug geschaut hat, Madame?« »Mais bien sûr, Monsieur le Commissaire. Alfonse konnte schließlich gar nicht selber fahren und ein Verkauf des Fahrzeugs kam für ihn selbstverständlich nicht in Frage.«

A bushy eyebrow raised under Commissioner Lunel's beret and a bold theory slid unexpectedly into his thoughts. »Are you kidding me, Madame? You seriously want to make me believe, that your husband never again had looked at the vehicle after the tragic death of your chauffeur, Madame?" "Mais bien sûr, Monsieur le Commissaire. Alfonse was finally not able to handle a car and of course a sale of the vehicle was out of the question.« To be continued...

1195 Café nach dem Regen

Dieses Motiv zeigt das denkmalgeschützte Café de France in Aix-en-Provence L'Isle sur la Sorgue. Ich habe mir hierbei viele künstlerische Freiheiten genommen. Es hat beispielsweise gar nicht geregnet; die Straße war also trocken. Und ich habe die Dutzende von Tischen und Stühlen vorm Café weggelassen. Beim Malen wollte ich auch ein wenig experimentieren und habe mehr als sonst in lasierenden Schichten gearbeitet.

Café after the Rain

This one shows the renknown Café de France in L'Isle sur la Sorgue Aix-en-Provence.

I allowed myself some freedom of creativity. E.g. it has not rained at all, so the road was dry. And i omitted the dozens of tables and chairs in front of the café. While painting, I experimented a bit and have worked more than usual in translucent layers.

Jedenfalls, wenn man ein Kind ist und mit Mama unterwegs war.

Shopping fatigue

After a extensive shopping afternoon you'll have eaten enough ice cream, waffles and yelly babies. You've ridden all dinosaurs and elephants and even driven a fire truck. 

At least, if you are a kid gone out shopping with mum.

Wenn das Wetter schön ist und die Stimmung gut, was im Südfrankreichurlaub schon mal vorkommen kann, wird auch manches »nützliche Zeugs« eingekauft. Dieses Mal hatten wir uns aber fest vorgenommen, keinen Tüddelskram zu kaufen. Die schönsten Erinnerungen sind sowieso im Kopf. Und in meinen Bildern.

Buying Mood

If the weather is nice and you're in a good mood – which happens to be quite often in the Southern France–  you tend to buy »useful things«. This time we determined ourselves not to buy baubles (is this the right word?). Anyway, the best memories you'll keep in your mind. And I show them in my paintings.

Diesen schönen Salon de thé haben wir in Le Puy-en-Velay gefunden. leider hatte er geschlossen und wahrscheinlich zum Schutz vor der Sonne ein Bettlaken vorm Fenster gespannt. Das Innenleben des Cafés habe ich also erfunden. Seht ihr den Wuschelhaarigen Kellner, der uns anstarrt? Ist das Herr Cie?

This beautiful salon de thé we have found in Le Puy-en-Velay. Unfortunately, it was closed and there was a bedsheet stretched in front of the window to protect something inside from the sun or so. So I imagined myself how it could look like inside. Do you see the curly-haired waiter staring at us? Is that Mr. Cie?

Der Urlaub steht nun wirklich sowas vor der Autotür. Morgen geht es los und ich bestücke meine Farbpalette mit den »Üblichen Verdächtigen«. Da ich sowieso nur mit den drei Grundfarben mische, ist das auch keine große Auswahl. Fürs Malen "en plein air" habe ich noch zwei zusätzliche Grüntöne am Start.

Color Sketch 

Our holidays are really pretty soon stepping at the doorway. Tomorrow we're leaving home. Today I loaded my color palette with the "usual suspects". Anyway, since I am mixing  only with the three primaries, it's not a big selection. For painting "en plein air" I have two additional greens at start.

Eigentlich wollte ich mich stimmungsmäßig schon auf den kommenden Urlaub einstimmen. Aber dann fiel mir dieses Motiv von den Bergen der kleinen französischen Insel La Réunion im indischen Ozean in die Hände, wo wir 2008 einen schönen Wanderurlaub hatten.

Actually I wanted to get in the mood for the upcoming holidays.But then this picture came to me out of the stack. This picture showed the mountains of the small French island of La Réunion in the Indian Ocean . We had a great time hiking there in 2008.

So ähnlich hieß der Laden in der französischen oder belgischen Stadt, deren Name mir auch grade entfallen ist. Die haben in dem Laden irgendwas verkauft, was ich aber vergessen habe. Das Wetter war ganz gut, glaube ich - oder fing es nicht kurz danach an zu regnen? Aber ich kann mich genau erinnern, dass es Frühling oder Herbst war. 

Kurzgesagt: Ich muss noch ein paar Details ins Gesamtbild einfügen, damit alles stimmt.

Aromatics- this was the shop's name. Okay, not exactly, but something like this. It was in this French city whose name just won't happen to be remembered by me. Or was it in Belgium? I know that something was sold in this store or was it closed for renovation? Hey, but the weather was quite good, uhm- I think - or no, it just started to rain. One thing is for sure: It was spring or autumn.

In short: I need to insert some details into the overall picture before I can call it a day.

Werbegeschenk. Gifted.

Nach dem Regen führt uns eine, von matschigen Pfützen gesäumte Gasse zum weniger schönen Teil des Touristenortes. Aber Schönheit liegt bekanntlich im Auge des Betrachters. Und ich finde das Bild diesmal selber »echt schön«.

An alley with many muddy puddles leads to the poorer part of the tourist resort. But beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, as wel all know. And I believe the painting turned out to be»really beautiful«.

Achtung Wortspiel: 

Gestern Les Baux, heute Les Baugen.

Das Motiv ist dasselbe, aber ich habe den Lattenzaun weggelassen.

Das wirkte »dramatischer«.

Attention word game:

Yesterday Les Baux, Les Baugen today. 

(»Baugen« in French sounds like »Bogen« in German, hich means »Arches«)

The motive is the same, but I've omitted the picket fence.

This I found more "dramatic".
