It starts with an orange fruit. The first exercise of the book shows you why to paint with broadest possible brush, and what you should consider first when mixing colors as a beginner. I'll also tell you a lot about the concept of tonal values and it is so important for a successful picture. Zu sehen ist das Aquädukt,welches das kühle Nass zum Wasserspeicher transportierte.

- Situation -

Einer der weiteren Hauptpunkte der Stadt. Hier geht es weiter zum Castello und man kann sich in die Alfama, eines der bekannten Viertel, in denen der Fado gesungen wird aufmachen. Als Verkehrsknoten denkbar ungeeignet. Aber sehr charmant und irgendwie schafft es der Verkehr nach viel Gehupe und Zurücksetzen dann doch irgendwann wieder zu fließen.

Another main points of the city. You can continue to the Castello or stroll to the Alfama, one of the famous districts where the fado is beeing sung. Completely unsuitable as a traffic junction - but charming. And after some hooting and resetting the traffic manages to flow somehow.

Hier ist das Erkennen des Ortes schon etwas leichter. Bisher bin ich jedoch nur einmal am Steinkreis in Entfernung vorbeigefahren. Stonehenge ist ja schon weit über 5000 Jahre alt, da kann es ruhig noch ein paar Jahre mehr oder weniger auf mich warten.

The recognition of this place is a bit easier. However, I had only once seen the stone circle from a distance. Stonehenge is already over 5000 years old. So it can still wait a few years more or less for me.

Eine flog nach Ost,

Eine nach West,

Eine flog über das Kuckucksnest.

Der Witz des Abzählreims besteht darin, dass Gänse in einem Schwarm und nicht in verschiedene Richtungen fliegen können und dass der Kuckuck kein Nest baut.

Wer findet die nach Westen fliegende Gans im Bild?

The joke of the nursery rhyme "one flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo's nest" is, that geese only can fly in a swarm and not in different directions and that the cuckoo does not build a nest.

Goof: Who finds the goose flying west in the painting?

So ähnlich ist es, wenn man so vor sich hinmalt und es plötzlich ganz gut läuft und man mehrere Bilder hintereinander wegmalt und die Zeit und Essen und Trinken dabei vergisst und man sich einfach vom Malen treiben lässt.

"Lovis Corinth und der Akt um 1900" lautet der Titel der aktuellen Sonderausstellung im Nds. Landesmuseum. Am Mittwoch trafen sich dort u.a. angehende Modedesigner zum Aktmalen vor Ort. Ich war auch mal dabei als mitzeichnender Gast.

"Lovis Corinth and nude paintings around 1900" is the title of the current special exhibition in the Lower Saxony State Museum. On Wednesday approaching fashion designers were drawing there live on site. I joined as a sketching guest.
