Manchmal wird das gemalte Bild dann doch ganz schön anders, als die Vorlage. Ursprünglich fand ich Treppe links viel interessanter. Nun ist es das rechte Haus, welches den Blick auf sich zieht.

Sometimes the painted picture is quite different from the original. Originally I found the stairs on the left much more interesting. Now it is the right house that attracts my attention.

Parfois, l'image peinte est très différente de l'original. A l'origine, j'ai trouvé l'escalier de gauche beaucoup plus intéressant. Maintenant, c'est la maison a droite qui attire mon attention.

Mit diesem Bild eines kackenden Hundes vor der Kirche von Goult verabschiede ich mich von den Skizzen aus Frankreich, die ich direkt vor Ort gemacht habe. 

Morgen beginne ich mit den Konservenbildern: Ich habe während meines Urlaubs etwa 4.000 Fotos gemacht und bin sicher, dass ich das eine oder andere passende Design für ein kleines Acrylbild finden werde.

With this picture of a pooping dog in front of the church of Goult I say goodbye to the sketches of France, which I made directly on the spot. 

Tomorrow I will start with the canned pictures: I took about 4.000 photos during my holidays and I'm sure I'll find one or the other suitable design for a small acrylic picture.

Avec cette photo d'un chien qui fait caca devant l'église de Goult, je dis au revoir aux croquis de France que j'ai faits directement sur place.

Eines der Bilder, das einen dann zweifeln lassen. Hierein hatte ich sehr viel Zeit und Mühe investiert. Die Vorskizze war klasse in Fineliner angelegt. Dann die Farbe mit dem Lieblingsspruch "Jetzt versau' ich's" angelegt. Vor Ort fand ich es dann wirklich total misslungen. Als ich das Bild nun zuhause wiederfand, fand ich es gar nicht mehr so schlimm. Was meint ihr?

One of those paintings that makes you doubtful. I had invested a lot of time and effort in it. The preliminary sketch was great in fineliner. Then I put on the color with the self fulfilling prophecy "Now I'm screwing it up". On the plein air site it was a total fail. When I found the painting at home, I didn't think it was so bad at all. What do you think?

Un de ces tableaux qui vous fait douter. J'y avais investi beaucoup de temps et d'efforts. L'esquisse préliminaire était très réussie. Puis j'ai mis la couleur avec la prophétie de l'accomplissement "Maintenant, je foire tout". Sur le site de plein air, c'était un échec total. Quand j'ai trouvé le tableau à la maison, je ne pensais pas qu'il était si mauvais du tout. Qu'est-ce que t'en penses ?

Unser "vorletzter" Ausflug geht skizzentechnisch zur schönen Kapelle Notre Dame de Aubignon. Es ist immer gut, einfach mal von der Hauptstraße abzubiegen und interessanten Schildern in die Pampa zu folgen.

Our "penultimate" sketching excursion goes to the beautiful chapel Notre Dame de Aubignon. It is always good to just turn off the main road and follow interesting signs into the pampas.

Als Urban Sktecher macht man in der Stadt (und auf dem Land) ja immer wieder nette Bekanntschaften. So zeichnete ich nichtsahnend eine Dame mit Barettmütze, die dann an unseren Tisch kam und sich als sehr nette und skizzierende Kollegin aus Oregon (USA) entpuppte. 

As an Urban Sketcher you always make nice acquaintances in the city (and in the open country). So I sketched a lady with a beret cap, who came to our table and turned out to be a very nice and sketching colleague from Oregon (USA). 

En tant que Urban Sketcher, vous faites toujours de bonnes rencontres en ville (et à la campagne). J'ai donc dessiné une dame avec une casquette de béret, qui est venue à notre table et qui s'est avérée être une collègue très gentille et dessinatrice de l'Oregon (USA).

Leider schien mir das ganze Umfeld des Unesco-Welterbes eher vernachlässigt. Schade. Aber der Rest der quirligen Stadt hat mir sehr gefallen.

Die kleine Gemeinde von Saint-Laurent-Des-Arbres hat ungefähr 3.000 Einwohner und liegt im Departement Gard. Schon im 9. Jahrhundert war der Ort als Arbor (Baum) bekannt. Er erhielt den Namen wohl von einem entsprechend stattlichen Baum, der hier stand. Papst Johannes XXII hat im 14. Jahrhundert eine Burg neben der romanischen Kirche errichten lassen, die er zur Wehrkirche ausbauen ließ. Anschließend wurde den Bewohnern der Nachbardörfer eine Verordnung vorgeschrieben, um bei Kriegsgefahr mit ihrem Vieh und ihrem Besitz hinter den Mauern von Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres Zuflucht zu suchen. The small municipality of Saint-Laurent-Des-Arbres has about 3.000 inhabitants and is located in the department of Gard. Already in the 9th century the place was known as Arbor (tree). It probably got its name from an accordingly stately tree that stood here. In the 14th century, Pope John XXII had a castle built next to the Romanesque church, which he converted into a fortified church. Afterwards, the inhabitants of the neighbouring villages were prescribed a decree to seek refuge behind the walls of Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres with their cattle and property in danger of war. La petite commune de Saint-Laurent-Des-Arbres compte environ 3.000 habitants et est située dans le département du Gard. Déjà au IXe siècle, l'endroit était connu sous le nom d'Arbor (arbre). Il doit probablement son nom à un arbre majestueux qui se tenait ici. Au XIVe siècle, le pape Jean XXII fit construire un château à côté de l'église romane, qu'il transforma en église fortifiée. Par la suite, les habitants des villages avoisinants ont reçu un décret pour se réfugier derrière les murs de Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres avec leur bétail et leurs biens en danger de guerre.
