1403 Mårup Kirke

Ich habe dieses Bild direkt an der Steilküste von Mårup gemalt. Der Friedhof ist zeitweise schon ins Meer gefallen, die Kirche wurde bis auf 2 Meter Steinwände abgetragen. Abends habe ich diesen Blick auf den wehrhaften Baum angefangen und am nächsten Morgen dann fertig gemalt.

I have this picture painted directly on the cliffs of Mårup. The cemetery has partly been fallen into the sea, the church has been torn down to 2 meter of stone walls. In the evening I started this view of the fortified tree and finished it the other morning.

1402 Klostermühle

Heute war Mühlenskizzentag. Am Morgen vor der Klosteröffnung die dazugehörige Mühle und zum Nachmittagskaffee noch die schöne Mühle in Lønstrup skizziert. Nettes Café mit Keramikarbeiten hier.

Today was day of the windmill sketches. In the morning, before the Monastery opened I was drawing the associated mill and in the afternoon I have been sketching the beautiful mill in Lønstrup. Nice Café with ceramic works here.

1401 Kollerup

Anstatt die stattliche Kirche zu malen, hat es mir auf dem Parkplatz dann doch dieses einfache Haus gegenüber angetan, welches mit der Friedhofsmauer und der alten Eiche eine schöne Verbindung eingeht.

Instead of painting the stately church, I decided to paint this nice house. The cemetery wall and the old oak tree forms a nice combination with the typical house.

Übernachtung direkt am Wasser im Hafen und Besichtigung von Ringkøbing. Schöner Ort und nette Geschäfte mit warmen Pullovern. 

We slept in our camper by the waterfront in the harbor and visited Ringkøbing. Nice place and nice shops with warm sweaters.

1399 Quedens Gaard

Gestern in Ribe in unserem Lieblingscafé Quedens Gaard. Superschöne Einrichtung und super lecker Essen. Morgens dann noch dort gefrühstückt. 

Yesterday in Ribe in our favorite Café Quedens Gaard. Super Lovely decor and delicious food. In the morning we had breakfast there.

1398 Hviding Kirke

Wir sind nun in Dänemarks Süden in Jütland. Das erste Bild von hier zeigt eine eher untypische Kirche. Weder weiß, noch mit Turm. Aber sehr schön und beim Malen sogar in der Sonne gelegen.

Yippie, now we are in the south of Denmark. My first painting shows an untypical church. Neither white nor has it a tower. But while painting it, it was lit by the sun.

1397 Rose Challenge

Heute nochmal ein Blumenbild - als Zwischenergebnis. Die Rose hat es ein wenig zerrupft ;) Ich wollte eigentlich nochmal dran, aber die Abfahrt in den Urlaub (malen, fotografieren, abhängen) drängte.

Today again a flower as an interim result. The rose is a bit tattered ;)
I wanted to repaint some points, but it was no time left, cause now I'm off into the holidays (painting, takimg photos, relaxing).

1396 Gassenskizze

Da wir uns bald Richtung Norden aufmachen, sind die Reisevorbereitungen in vollem Gange. Zudem habe ich mir bei einem kleinen Radunfall die Hand gestaucht – But don't worry! Beim Malen tut es nicht arg weh, aber ein bisschen Schonung ist dennoch angesagt. Kurzum, gibt es heute eine meiner Skizzen aus Venedig, die es nun so doch noch auf diese Webseite geschafft hat ;)

Alley Sketch
Since we are now open to head northbound, our travel arrangements are n full swing. In addition, I have squeezed the hand in a small bicycle accident. But don't worry – Painting does not hurt so much, but some caress is yet announced. In short, today there's a sketch of Venice which has now managed to be posted on my website ;)

1394 Alte Schleuse

Gestern waren wir an der alten Leineschleuse an der Wasserkunst malen. Leider ist hier vieles momentan Baustelle und man hat nicht so recht den schönen Blick auf die historischen Bauwerke. Die Wasserkunst war das alte "Wasser-Kraftwerk", welches die Fontänen in den Herrenhäuser Gärten antrieb.

Old lock
Yesterday we painted near the old Leine lock at the "wasserkunst". Unfortunately there is currently much reconstruction going on and it one has not quite a good view to the historical buildings. The "Wasserkunst" (Water-Art) was the old water power plant that was pushing the fountains in the Herrenhausen Gardens.

So schnell und gut mir das gestrige Bild von der Hand ging, so zäh und mühsam war das Malen des Heutigen. Die Licht durchschienene Blüte malt man besser in Aquarell.

Foxglove
As fast and well as yesterday's painting was born, so tough and arduous was today's painting. It's seems easier to paint the light which is shining through the blossoms in watercolor.

Gestern Morgen entschied ich mich, den Garten schon vor der Arbeit zu gießen. Einer von den zwei Mohnblüten begrüßte mich mit seiner vollen Blüte. So schnell kann man an sein Motiv für den Tag kommen.

Good Poppy
Yesterday morning I decided to water the garden before work. One of the two poppy flowers greeted me with his full bloom. So quick you can get your daily painting subject.

Ein kleiner Blumengruß zur neuen Woche.

Diese standen in einem eher verlassenen Haus in Norwegen und wurden von hinten durch die schmutzigen Fensterscheiben nett beleuchtet.

A small flower bouquet for the new week.

These I found in a rather deserted house in Norway and were nicely lit from behind through the dirty windows.

Sonntagsskizzen 7
Die List ist ein beliebter Stadtteil Hannovers. Sehr tückisch ist es, hier am Markt zu malen. So viele ungefragte Bilderkritiken von Passanten gab es selten. Inzwischen sind wir als Plein-Air-Aquarellisten schon abgestumpft und amüsieren uns köstlich über die oft unfreiwillig komischen Kommentare. Dieses Bild begann auch wirklich als »chaotisches« Gekleckse. Dies war mein malerischer Versuch, »anders« als sonst zu beginnen. Letzlich ist es lediglich schön bunt geworden, entspricht aber nicht unbedingt meinen eigenen qualitativen Erwartungen.

Sunday Sketches 7
»List & Tücke« translates to somewhat like »with cunning and trickery«.
The List is a popular district of Hanover. Very tricky indeed is painting here on the market is. We received sooo many unquestioned reviews of passersby. Meanwhile, we plein-air artists are as cool as a cucumber and keep enjoying ourselves on the delicious and often unintentionally comical comments. Okay, this painting really began as a »chaotic« messy splattering blobs. This was my painterly attempt to start »differently« than usual. Ultimately it's kind of colorful, but by no means meets my own qualitative expectations.

Vom venezianischen Gemüse am Donnerstag zu den heutigen roten Zwiebeln ist es kein großer Schritt. Vielleicht schafft das gestrige Schiff die Verbindung und hat die Zwiebeln aus Venedig zu uns mitgebracht?

It's no big step from the Venetian vegetables on Thursday to today's red onions. Maybe yesterday's ship is the connection and has brought the onions from Venice to us?

Man kann hier auch Floße mieten für Fahrten auf dem Stichkanal.

1387 Dekorativer Gemüsemüll

Vorm Laden des venezianischen Gemüsehändlers stehen immer mehrere Kisten mit den Resten der vorbereiteteten Artischocken. Auch das sieht natürlich malerisch aus. Mitten im dekorativen Müll hat ein Restaurantbeitzer seine Visitenkarte versteckt.

Decorative Veggie Trash

In front of the Venetian greengrocer there's always several boxes with the remains of prepared artichokes. Of course that's picturesque too for painting. In the middle of the waste, a restaurant owner placed his business card.

1386 Vorm Ghetto am Morgen

Venedig hat im 16. Jahrhundert das Ghetto quasi erfunden. Die Brücke im Hintergrund querte ich jeden Morgen, um zu meinen Mitmalern zu gelangen. Auf dem Weg habe ich dann Panini und Cornetti zum Prima Colazione mitgebracht.

In the 16th century Venice »invented« the ghetto. Each morning I crossed the bridge  to join my painting pals. On the way, I bought panini and cornetti for the prima colazione.
