Nachdem ich vorgestern die New Yorker Taxis in Toronto gezeigt habe, wollte ich mit einem echten Torontoer Taxi nicht hinter dem Berg halten. Obwohl, »Stiel-Blüten« waren doch gestern. Mann, diese Hitze... Wusstet ihr, dass »Stilblüte« auf englisch »bloomers« heißt?

Das Gelb der Kanadischen Goldrute aus dem gestrigen Daily Painting auf seinem Ursprungshalm im heimischen Garten. Hier summte es den ganzen lieben langen heißen Tag.

Taxi, bitte!

Die kanadische Goldrute in unserem Garten glomm (man kann übrigens auch glimmte sagen) in der heißen Sommersonne. Das Gelb erinnerte mich an die New Yorker Taxis, die ich in Toronto sah. Denn in Toronto werden aus Kosten- und Organisationsgründen viele Filme gedreht, die in New York spielen sollen. Und so fanden sich an einem Filmset Unmengen dieser Yellow Cabs.

Taxi please
The Canadian goldenrod in our garden glimmered (incidentally you can also say smoldered) in the hot summer sun. The yellow reminded me of the New York taxis, which I saw in Toronto. Due to cost and organzation, Toronto offers many a good reason for filmmakers to shoot thier movies here, rather than in NYC. And so I found, on a movie set oodles of yellow cabs.

Heute ist Zahltag. Nein, mal ehrlich jetzt. Kunst macht man ja nicht, um Kasse zu machen. Obwohl ich natürlich auch nichts dagegen hätte. Aber solange ich noch täglich neue Mal-Herausforderungen sehe, wird wohl noch nichts mit Aufhören.
Zum Beispiel ist diese Kasse noch lange nicht so (grrr), wie ich es wollte. Aber irgendwann musste mal Schluss sein und darum bleibt sie (erstmal) so.

Today's payday. No, just kiddin'. Art is for the art and not do to make cash. Though, of course I would not mind. And while I still see new daily time-challenges there will be no quitting.
For example, this cash register is not the way I wanted it to be (grrr). But at some point had to be an end. So let's see, if I will work on it again.

Blechvogel

Weiter auf der Yellow Brick Road, fand sich für das heutige Daily Painting ein französisches Kultobjekt aus -natürlich wieder- viel Blech. Ich habe das Buch nie gelesen. Aber den (ebenfalls kultigen) sehr kitschigen amerikanischen Film von 1939 mit Judy Garland als Dorothy habe ich als Kind geliebt. In meiner Erinnerung lief er stets an langweiligen Sonntagnachmittagen, die dadurch ein wenig magischer wurden.

Metal Bird
Next on the Yellow Brick Road was for today's daily painting this French cult-object. Again much sheet metal. I have never read the book. But I loved the (also iconic) and kitschy American movie from 1939, starring Judy Garland as Dorothy. What I associate with this film are lazy Sunday afternoons, which gave the day a dash of magic.

Wahrscheinlich wurden die Kannen und Eimer aus dem (leider herzlosen) Blechmann aus dem Buch »The Wonderful Wizard of Oz« recycled. Jedenfalls hat blechernes Gartengerät für mich oftmals einen Hang, malerisch dazustehen und »los, mal mich!« zu rufen.
Da geht's doch nicht mit rechten Dingen zu.

Probably, these jugs and buckets are recycled parts of the (heartless) Tin Man from the famous book »The Wonderful Wizard of Oz«. However, tinny garden tools often have a tendency to materialize in a most picturesque way and start yelling »go on, paint me!«.
Something mysterious is going on right here.

Maiszeit

Heute ist einjähriges Jubiläum meiner Daily Paintings!
Wie ein Maiskorn, das in der Hitze zu Popcorn wird, sind die Ereignisse der letzten 366 Tage förmlich explodiert und haben meinen Tagesablauf ganz schön umgekrempelt. Danke für die vielen netten Kommentare und Erlebnisse während dieser »Malzeit«. Danke auch noch einmal allen Freunden, Verwandten, bekannten und unbekannten »Verfolgern« meiner Daily Painting Aktion.
Unglaublich, was vor einem Jahr als »Malexperiment« und persönliche Herausforderung begann, macht mir immer noch so viel Spaß, dass ein Ende der Aktion derzeit nicht geplant ist. Geplant hingegen ist die Ausstellung der schönsten Daily Paintings ab 4. September 2012 bis Mitte Dezember, zu der ich euch alle vorab schon mal herzlich einlade. Alle Besucher können dann vor Ort an der Verlosung eines »Wunschbildes« teilnehmen. Weitere Infos folgen.

Corn Time
Today I celebrate the one-year anniversary of my daily paintings!
Like a grain of corn, that becomes popcorn in heat, the events of the last 366 days literally exploded and turned my daily routine upside down quite a bit. Thank you all for your friendly comments and your support. Thanks also again to all you friends, relatives, known and unknown »followers«. Unbelievable, it all started 366 days ago, as a »painting experiment« and personal challenge. And daily painting still offers me so much fun and experience, that an end is not yet scheduled. However, scheduled is my exhibition of the most beautiful daily paintings, beginning on Sept. 4th, 2012. All visitors can participate locally to win her or his »favorite painting«. Irgendwo in den Dales

Leider habe ich den Ortsnamen vergessen. Sicher ist es jedoch ein pittoreskes kleines Örtchen in den Yorkshire Dales, welches sich hier ins nachmittägliche Sonnenlicht inszenierte. *Unsere charmante Reiseorganisatorin meinte, es wäre das Städtchen Askrigg von oben.

Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the place. Certainly it is but a small picturesque village in the Yorkshire Dales, which is staged here in the afternoon sunlight. *Our charming tour guide said it was the little town of Askrigg from above.

Lister Meile

Zum Skizzieren ging es zur Lister Meile in einem beliebten Stadtbezirk Hannovers, wo ich den Pferdekopfbrunnen motivierte. Das Teil wird auch gerne »Wasserhähne« genannt.

For sketching, I went to the »Lister Mile«, a nice pedestrian zone in a trendy town district of Hanover, where I motivated the »Horse's Head Well«. The fountain is also called »Water Hens«.

An die Stangen dieser komischen Fischerhäuser kann man Netze hängen und diese in den Fluss hängen und damit Fische fangen.
