1688 Petitesse 17

Nach langer Zeit mal wieder ein kleines Frauenportrait. Wie immer nach strenger Zeitvorgabe (diesmal 48 Minuten) und auch diesmal mit auf dem Kopf stehendem Motiv. Das heißt, die Vorlage lag um 180 Grad gedreht vor mir. Dies hilft, nicht das "Gesicht" zu sehen, sondern die Formen und Farben.

It's been a long time that I painted a small woman portrait. As always, I had a strict timing (48 minutes). And as often, I painted it upside-down. That is to say, the template was rotated at 180 degrees. This helps not to see the »face«, but the shapes and colors.

Die meisten Häuser in Venedig haben Hausnummern, die mit einer Schablone angebracht wurden. Hier sieht man sie im unteren Bildteil.

Stencil Numbers

Most of the houses in Venice have house numbers, which were sprayed or painted with a mask. Here you se it in in the lower part.

Eine Studie auf Acrylmalblock. Dummerweise habe ich diesen nach dem Abfotografieren zu schnell geschlossen, sodass das Deckblatt dran kleben blieb. Nun hat es kleine "charmante" Fehler, die man auf dem obigen Bild nicht sieht.

Die Landschaft ist idealisiert. Ich wollte einfach mal wieder blauen Himmel malen. Malerisch wirkt es fast wie ein Ölbild. Das liegt daran, dass ich beim Malen sehr viel Malmittel (Siebdruckpaste) beigegeben habe.

It feels almost like an oil painting.

That's 'cause I added a lot painting medium (screen printing paste).

Die ein wenig größere grob grundierte Leinwand stand nun schon die ganze Zeit im Atelier. Heute nahm ich mir endlich ein Herz und füllte sie mit einem expressiven Bildthema.

1673 Farmhaus

Für die kommende Ausstellung im Kunstkreis Laatzen (3.-27. April 2016) ließ ich einige kleine Holzplatten im Baumarkt zuschneiden. Ups! Die Schreinerei lieferte leider ein falsches Maß. Ich nahm die Platten trotzdem und testete direkt, ob man die falschen Platten mit Acryl bemalen kann.

For the upcoming exhibition at the Art Circle Laatzen (3rd to April 27th, 2016) I need some small wood panels which I ordered at the local hardware store. Ooops! The Carpenter took a wrong measure. I took the panels anyway and tested directly whether you can paint on them with acrylics.

Der Film »American Graffiti« von George Lucas hat die Diner in Deutschland bekannt gemacht. Inzwischen gibt es nicht mehr viele Originale davon. 

Das White Mana Diner fand ich im Internet, es steht in New Jersey.

George Lucas' movie »American Graffiti« has introduced the diner to Germany.
