El Paso

Am Fuße der Cumbre und der Caldera la Palmas liegt El Paso und ist Ausgangspunkt für viele schöne Wanderungen. Danach sitzt man dann in der Bar am Plaza de Pedro Capote Gutierpez an der kleinen Kapelle und kühlt seine Füße. 

El Paso is located at the foot of La Palma's caldera and is starting point for many hikes. Afterwards you may sit in the bar at the Plaza de Pedro Capote Gutierpez near the small chapel and cools your feet.

Gewächshaus

Heute geht's schon früh los. Ein bisschen Fliegerei und ich lande auf der kleinen Atlantikinsel La Palma. Aus früheren Jahren weiß ich, dass der Norden herrlich grün ist und einen entzückenden Nebelwald hat. In den letzten Wochen hat es auch fleißig dort geregnet. 
Das kann dann jetzt aufhören.

Cafe Parisien

Dieses Café in Arta auf Mallorca ist weit über seine Grenzen hinweg bekannt. Die Wallfahrtskirche Santuari de Sant Salvador ist allerdings auch überaus sehenswert. 
So langsam stimme ich mich auf den nächsten Urlaub ein. 
Allerdings geht es dann auf eine andere Insel.

This cafe in Arta / Majorca is known far beyond its borders. The Sanctuary of Sant Salvador is also worth a visit.

haben wir in einem Lokal in dieser mallorquinischen Straße in Valldemossa das erste Mal gegessen. Ein typisches Herbstgericht mit Schweinelende, Wirsingkohl, Rosinen, und verschiedenen landestypischen würzigen Wurstsorten. 
Man sollte keine Blogeinträge schreiben, wenn man Hunger hat.

In a restaurant in this Majorcan street in Valldemossa I've eaten lomo con col for the first time. It's a typical autumn dish with pork, cabbage, raisins, and various country-specific spicy sausages. 
I should not write blog entries, when I am hungry.

Linden

Im Restaurant im alten Lindener Rathaus sitzt man sehr nett. Man kann dort wunderbar seinem Zeichenlaster nachgehen. Mir gefällt besonders der Blick von der Empore.

Halloween

Der olle Maddin mit dem roten Umhang ist echt langweilig. 
Da übernehmen die Kids doch lieber die amerikanisierten Bräuche und haben jede Menge Spaß beim Süßes-oder-Saures-Abzocken. Das von Tür zu Tür laufen ist übrigens auch eine gute Vorbereitung für die spätere Karriere in einer Drückerkolonne. 
Also: Packt den Kürbis an der Rübe, spaltet ihm den Schädel, höhlt ihn aus und zerkocht ihm das Hirn zur Suppe.

Also in Germany, the kids like this imported traditions and have lots of fun while performing Trick-or-Treat rip-offs. The walk from door to door, is also a good preparation for a future career in a doorstep brigade. 
So: Pack the pumpkin on the root, split his skull, scoop it out and cook his brain to rags.

Herbstmorgen

Heute nochmal ein Bild vom morgendlichen See. 
Wenn ich als Kind früher aus dem Fenster des Hauses meiner Kindheit sah, standen dort mehrere Birken. Sie wurden mit mir gemeinsam groß. Ich erinnere mich an den Dreck, den sie jedes Jahr im Frühjahr (Blütenkätzchen) und Herbst (Blätter) machten. 
Trotzdem mag ich sie sehr.

Today another picture from the lake in the morning.
When I was as a child, there were several birches right in front of my childhood house's windows. They grew up with me. And I remember the mess they'd produce every spring (catkins) and autumn ​​(leaves). 
Anyway I like them very much.

Frostmorgen

Das könnte auch wieder in Schweden sein, ist aber unser nahe gelegener »Haus-See« in Altwarmbüchen. Dort haben wir gestern einen schönen Spaziergang im herrlichsten Sonnenschein gemacht. Dort, wo noch kein Sonnenstrahl hingelangt war, zeigte sich die Natur noch sehr frostig.

This could also be back in Sweden, but is our nearby »home lake«. We did a nice walk there yesterday in glorious sunshine. And saw lots of sparklig ice crystals, where the sun hadn't yet reached the ground.

Der Kirchhof

Meine selbstgestellte Aufgabe sah für heute ein Bild vor, welches mit nur 50 Pinselstrichen gemalt wird. Nun, ich habe es auch mit 100 nicht ganz geschafft. Es fokussiert aber dennoch das Arbeiten ungemein:
Was ist wichtig? Was lasse ich weg? Der untere Teil ging mir noch gut von der Hand. Mit der Kirche und dem Baum bin ich aber noch nicht ganz zufrieden.

My current self-imposed study plan  for today called for a picture that is painted with only 50 brushstrokes. Well, what should I say, I failed on that. But it focused yet the work immensely:
What is important? What do I leave out? The lower part of the painting went well out of hand. With the church and the tree I am still not satisfied.

Zur Lösung muss man eigentlich nur wissen, dass »får« sowohl »Schaf«, als auch »bekommen« heißt...aber nicht fuschen und bei Google schauen!

Fryksås

Ein kleiner Ort in Mittelschweden am Orsasjön. Die typisch skandinavisch ländlichen Zäune, dienen auch dazu, bei hohem Schnee den Weg zeigen. Auf unserem selbstfotografierten Küchenkalender ist dieses das Monatsmotiv. Nun habe ich das seit 25 Tagen jeden morgen gesehen und habe es nun endlich auch einmal gemalt.

Ich freue mich riesig, dass dieses Bild »DPW facebook pic of the day« geworden ist.

A small town in the middle of Sweden on the Orsa Lake. The typical Scandinavian rural fences also serve to show the way when there's deep snow. In my self-photographed kitchen calendar this is the picture of the month. Now I've seen it for 25 days every morning. Finally I painted it.

Ich wollte eigentlich nicht so detailreich werden. Aber manchmal entwickelt es sich eben so. Ich mag die Stimmung und das Licht. Die Vorlage dieses Daily Paintings ist ein Foto aus Toronto, irgendwo im Universitätsviertel. Könnte Baldwin Street sein.

Mein Schwager und ich haben in gemeinsamen Urlauben die Gemeinsamkeit entdeckt, beim Wandern am liebsten fast laufend steile Rückwege vom Berg zu begehen. Dieses »extremly downhill running« schont die Kniegelenke (angeblich). Da bekommt man die Natur nur noch in Bewegungsunschärfe mit. Aber wollte ich nicht mit der Schärfe in meinen Bildern spielen? 

Diese Daily Painting gefiel mir vom ersten Pinselstrich an.

In our shared hiking holidays, my brother in law and I have discovered an abnormal predilection of  »extremly downhill running«. He said that will protect the knee joints from falling apart or something like that. By running fast, you only recognize the path and its surrunding nature in a motion blur. But didn't I wrote on Saturday, that I am going to play with the sharpness of my pictures? 
I loved this painting from the first brushstroke on.
