Auch gestern konnten wir in Hannover uns prächtigen Wetters erfreuen. Da fehlt eigentlich nur noch eine salzige Seebrise. Diese fand ich dann virtuell beim Malen dieses La Palma Motivs.

Poseidons Rache

Nachdem Odysseus sich den Meeresgott zum Feind gemacht hatte, nahm Poseidon fast jede Möglichkeit wahr, ihn zu bestrafen. So erlitt er auf seinen Irrfahrten mehrfachen Schiffbruch. Die Insel Scheria erreichte er nur, weil er den Rat und den Schleier der Meeresgöttin Leukothea annahm und schwimmend den Strand erreichte.

Poseidon's Revenge

After Odysseus had made the god of the sea to his enemy, Poseidon took advantage of almost every opportunity to punish him. So Odysseus suffered multiple shipwrecks . He only reached the island Sheria, because he accepted the advice and the veil of the goddess of the sea Leukothea and reached the beach swimming.

Nixie

Manchmal ist eine Studie (siehe gestern) ja nur eine Ausrede, wenn's schnell gehen soll oder das Bild nicht so gelungen ist. Manchmal ist eine Studie aber auch nur eine Studie: Darum gibt es heute das nochmals größer umgesetzte Bild der Nixe.

Puerto Naos

Noch einmal Palmen auf La Palma. Bei unserem Besuch im November war der Strand nur eine Großbaustelle. Inzwischen dürfte die Strandpromenade restauriert und neu gestaltet sein. 

Once again the palms of La Palma. On our visit in November the beach was a huge construction site. Meanwhile, the promenade should be restored and redesigned.

Meeressturm

Dieser Wolkenbruch tobte über der Ostsee, während wir im Trockenen in unserem VW-Camper saßen und »Kältezone« von Arnaldur Indriðason als Hörbuch lauschten. Der Regen setzt sich leider momentan in unseren Breiten überall ein wenig zu herbstlich durch, finde ich.

This downpour raged across the Baltic Sea, while we stayed in our dry VW camper  and listened to »The draining lake« by Arnaldur Indriðason as an audiobook. This constant raining of the last days gets on my nerves.

Steinhuder Meer

Der gestrige Karfreitag begann in der Tat recht frostig und daher frustig (gerade mal 5°C !). Am Mittag konnten wir dann aber in der Sonne sitzen und haben sogar etwas Rotbäckchen bekommen.

Yesterday's Good Friday really started quite chilly and downbeating (only 40° Fahrenheit !). But at noon, we sat in the sun and got slightly rosy cheeks.

Cute seagulls which have to learn a little bit more, how to move elegantly on the coastside. Finally a new acrylic painting. Whereas, my watercolors fit well into the current maritime topic.

Stegreif

Das heutige Daily Painting ist ein wenig improvisiert, da ich gestern unterwegs war. Somit konnte ich nur auf einfaches Studienpapier malen. Doch wenigstens die Farben sind professioneller Provenienz und die wortspielerische englische Übersetzung von "Stegreif" (off the bat) ist gelungen.

Today's daily painting is improvised a little, because I was traveling yesterday. The only paper within reach was of poor quality. So it was a special challenge. At least the watercolors are of professional provenance.

Gäbe es im Rennsport eine orange Flagge, würde sie bedeuten: Training weitermachen, vorsichtig fahren und Geschwindigkeit verringern. Wahrscheinlich heißt es aber nur: »Achtung, Holländer auf der Fahrbahn«.

Ein stürmischer Tag am Meer ist auch mal schön. Aber auch ein wenig anstrengend, wenn der Wind von vorne kommt. Schöner ist der Weg mit dem Wind im Rücken.

Heute war eigentlich genau das Gegenteil. Also eher viel Umhergewusele, wichtige Gespräche, Entscheidungen und Aktionen. Danach freut man sich umso mehr auf Ruhe und Runterfahren. Das heutige Daily Painting daher ausnahmsweise nur als Vorskizze.

Today it was exactly the opposite. So much more bustling, important discussions, decisions and actions. Afterwards, the more you slow doan and search a quiet peaceful place. Therefore today's daily painting as a preliminary sketch.
