Irgendwo auf der Strecke in Norwegen lockte uns dieser romantische Platz am Fahrbahnrand. Doch er entpuppte sich als die einzige Stelle, an der wir von Mückenschwärmen heimgesucht wurden. Trotzdem muss ich mit den Vorurteilen aufräumen: Ich habe nur einen einzigen winzigen »Mygg Bite« im gesamten Urlaub abbekommen.

Rowboat on the Lake

Somewhere along the line in Norway  this romantic place lured us at the roadside. But it turned out to be the only place where we were plagued by swarms of mosquitoes. Nevertheless, I must dispel the prejudices: Got only one tiny »mygg bite« throughout the whole three week holiday.

Die Einfahrt nach Langesund war unser erster Sichtkontakt Norwegens nach 22 Jahren. Die schmale Fahrrinne wird von Lotsen begleitet und man passiert diesen possierlichen Leuchtturm.

Man sollte fast meinen, es gäbe wenig Alternativen zum Zeichnen in Hannover. Aber das Maschseefest hat wieder begonnen und dann trifft man sich eben hier.

If you should'nt know better, you could almost think that there would be little alternative places for drawing in Hanover. But the Maschsee Party started on Wednesday. And then you meet up here.

Poseidons Rache

Nachdem Odysseus sich den Meeresgott zum Feind gemacht hatte, nahm Poseidon fast jede Möglichkeit wahr, ihn zu bestrafen. So erlitt er auf seinen Irrfahrten mehrfachen Schiffbruch. Die Insel Scheria erreichte er nur, weil er den Rat und den Schleier der Meeresgöttin Leukothea annahm und schwimmend den Strand erreichte.

After Odysseus had made the god of the sea to his enemy, Poseidon took advantage of almost every opportunity to punish him. So Odysseus suffered multiple shipwrecks . Am Sonntag stand eine kleine Wanderung in den Leineauen nahe Laatzen auf dem Programm. Der Ort liegt etwas südlich von Hannover und man kann hier auf einem renaturierten Kiesabbaugelände zahlreiche Vogelarten (unter anderem viele Störche) entdecken.

Vorgestern haben wir ausgiebig in unserem alten Reisetagebuch geschmökert. Erstaunt haben wir gemerkt, wie stark sich in den letzten 22 Jahren, seit wir zuletzt dort waren, unsere Ansprüche gewandelt haben. Damals ging es mit einem Bus voller Konservendosen, haltbarer Salami und säckeweise Tütensuppen, Nudeln und Reis sowie 2 Flaschen Ballantines nach Norwegen. 
Dieses Mal lassen wir die Tütensuppen weg.

Fence at the Lake
Some days ago, we have extensively browsed in our old travel diary. Astonished, we noticed how strongly our claims changed in the last 22 years since we were the last time in Norway. We'd been students and loaded our Volkswagen Bus full with cans, longlasting salami and tons of instant soup, pasta and rice as well as 2 bottles of Ballantines. 
This time we'll cut out the packet soup.

Der letzte Schritt

Manchmal sind ist die letzten Pinselstriche, die entscheiden, ob ein Bild in sich stimmig wird. Manchmal wirkt es noch zu flach. manchmal fehlt eine Hand. Dann ist es besser, wenn man noch einmal Hand anlegt (im doppelten Wortsinn).
Ich habe mal eine »vorher-nachher« Animation gemacht (siehe unten).

The final Step
Sometimes, the last brush strokes decide whether the image is consistent or not. Sometimes its too flat or quirky. Sometimes body parts are missing like hands or feet. Then it's better to put it back on the easel.

Die Vernissage am Samstag war übrigens sehr angenehm und schön. Ich danke noch einmal allen Gästen, die viel gute Laune mitbrachten, angeregt über meine Bilder diskutierten, mitunter staunten und herzhaft lachten und sogar einige Bilder erwarben.

Nixie

Manchmal ist eine Studie (siehe gestern) ja nur eine Ausrede, wenn's schnell gehen soll oder das Bild nicht so gelungen ist. Manchmal ist eine Studie aber auch nur eine Studie: Darum gibt es heute das nochmals größer umgesetzte Bild der Nixe.

Gestern habe ich letzte Vorbereitungen für die morgige Vernissage getroffen. Ab heute Abend wird dann gehängt. Fürs Daily Painting blieb nicht viel Zeit, darum ist es nur eine Studie geworden, für ein größeres Bild.

Puerto Naos

Noch einmal Palmen auf La Palma. Bei unserem Besuch im November war der Strand nur eine Großbaustelle. Inzwischen dürfte die Strandpromenade restauriert und neu gestaltet sein.
