Ich habe damit begonnen, alte und aus meiner Sicht nicht sonderlich gelungene Bilder zu übermalen. Manchmal entstehen bereits beim erneuten Grundieren interessante Formen oder Farben. Und manchmal wird eben eine richtige Landschaft daraus.

I have started to paint over old and amho not-very-good images. Sometimes interesting shapes or colors occur while re-priming the canvas. And sometimes a real unreal landscape evolves.

Den Seemann fand ich als Cartoon-Serie im TV eigentlich immer sehr nervig. Dann schon lieber Paulchen Panther ;) Als Restaurant habe ich es noch nicht ausprobiert.

The cartoon TV-series I always thought of being quite annoying. But I always loved the Pink Panther. I had not tried Popeyes Restaurant.

Kennt ihr das? Immer wenn man etwas ankündigt kommt natürlich etwas dazwischen. Nun wollte ich also Sonntags regelmäßig ein paar Skizzen der vergangenen Woche zeigen. Es ist aber nur eine richtig zeigenswerte am Mittwoch in der Hannoverschen Kaffeemanufaktur entstanden. 

Die andere (Bankgebäude) ist nun schon ein bisschen älter, gefällt mir aber trotzdem.

Sunday Sketches

Whenever you announce something -of course- something intervenes. So now I wanted to show a few sketches regularly on Sundays. But there is only one I really like to show.

Its such fun to paint these miniatures of well-known paintings. Butit takes a lot of time. Today, two girls are watching "Two Half-Nudes" (1919) by Otto Mueller. Or vice versa?

Tiefenpsychologisch möchte ich das im Hinblick auf die dargestellten Frauen nicht deuten. Die Handhaltung und die Farbe des Kleides korrespondierten zu schön mit dem Kunstwerk Max Ernsts (Die Jungfrau züchtigt das Jesuskind vor drei Zeugen: André Breton, Paul Éluard und dem Maler). 

Eines meiner Lieblingsbilder im Kölner Museum Ludwig.

Transference

Psychodynamically I don't want to interpret it, concerning the depicted women. I couldn't resist the correspondent hand position and the color of the dress with the artwork of Max Ernst (The Virgin punishes the child Jesus in front of three witnesses: André Breton, Paul Éluard, and the Painter). 

One of my favorite pictures in the Museum Ludwig in Cologne.

So heißt die Ausstellung im Kölner Museum Ludwig, welche wir an Weihnachten besucht haben. Besonders passend war dieses chice Paar. Die Dame hat sich perfekt mit der Dame aus dem Bild »Journal« (1972)  von Howard Kanovitz identifiziert.

That is the title of the exhibition at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne. We visited the show on Christmas. Particularly suitable was this fashionable couple.The lady has identified herself perfectly with the lady in the painting »Journal« (1972) by Howard Kanovitz.

A view to the room - ein Blick in die Nachtwächterstube

Auftragsarbeit. Commissioned work.

Gestern waren wir nach etlichen Kilometern vom verschneiten Süden bis zum heimatlichen Norden auf zwischenstation in Marburg. Dort habe ich den Nachtwächter an seinen neuen Platz gebracht. Er wacht nun in der Nachtwächterstube der traditionsreichen Gaststätte zur Sonne am Marburger Marktplatz über seine Betrachter und neuen Besitzer. 

After several miles from the snowy south to the homely north we made short station in Marburg. I delivered the night watchman to their new owners. The »Nachtwaechter« now keeps care of the fabulous restaurant »Zur Sonne« which is located in a traditional timbered house on Marburg's marketplace.

In Uzès war dieses schöne Fest während unseres Frankreichurlaubs. Der Platz war schön geschmückt, auf der Bühne tanzte man Flamenco (hä?). Und plötzlich stand auch noch eine echte württembergische Weinkönigin wie eine Außerirdische neben uns. Klar, die Partnerstadt ist Schriesheim. Und somit waren an diesem Abend Rot- und Weißwein im freien Ausschank. 

Twinning

While we stayed in France last summer, there was this wonderful festival in Uzès. The place was beautifully decorated and some flamenco dancers performed on stage (huh?). And suddenly a real wine queen from Württemberg (Germany) was standing right beneath us like an alien from outer space.Sure, the sister city of Uzès is Schriesheim. And thus, red and white wine was served for free all night.

1223 Lindenbild

Preparations and Painting - Vorbereitungen und Malerei

Als Jahres-End-Aktion und besonderes Highlight hatten wir am Mittwoch enormen Spaß in der Sketchygruppe beim Malen eines großen Hannover-Bildes. Es zeigt einige Bauwerke und Wahrzeichen des hippen Stadtteils Linden, der nächstes Jahr 900 Jahre alt wird. Das Bild wurde ein 1 x 4 Meter großes Aquarell. 

»Die Ruhmreichen Sieben minus Eine« haben es gemeinsam geplant, gezeichnet, gemalt und innerhalb sagenhafter Rekordzeit von nur 3 Stunden fertiggestellt.

Painting Linden

On Wednesday, I had great fun with the sketching guys while painting a large watercolor picture. It shows some monuments of the Linden-Hood. 

The image measures 3.3 x 13 feet. We, »The Glorious Seven while One's missing« have planned, drawn, painted and finished the piece in the new world record time of 3 hours.

Schon mal ein kleiner Eindruck auf die festlichen Tage. Ab Mittwoch stapfen ja auch ganz viele wieder im roten Kleid und Mantel durch den Schnee. 

Man beachte die als Kleiderbügel getarnten Flügel dieses Engelchens.

The Red Dress

A small impression upon the upcoming festive days. From Wednesday on, quite a lot will be seen in red dresses and coats stomping through the snow. Note the wings of this little angel disguised as clothes hanger.
