Dieser Faust hat nichts mit Goethe zu tun. Vielmehr ist es ein stillgelegtes Fabrikgelände in Hannover Linden-Nord. Früher hätte man »alternativ« dazu gesagt. 

Alternativ ist ja jetzt normal.

Was sagt man eigentlich heute?

This Faust has nothing to do with Goethe's famous script. Rather, it is a disused factory site in Hanover Linden-North. Previously I would have called it "alternativ".

Auch gestern konnten wir in Hannover uns prächtigen Wetters erfreuen. Da fehlt eigentlich nur noch eine salzige Seebrise. Diese fand ich dann virtuell beim Malen dieses La Palma Motivs.

Yesterday we were once again able to enjoy our magnificent weather here in Hanover. The only thing missing a salty sea breeze. I virtually found this while painting this La Palma subject.

Kann man konzentiert arbeiten und gleichzeitig an nichts denken? Ja, bei 44.6°C Innentemperatur geht alles. Dieses Motiv brauchte aber einen solch extrem heißen Tages wie gestern. Denn es zeigt eine Marktszene an einem ebenfalls sehr heißen Markttag in Südfrankreich.

Is it possible to work concentrated and simultaneously think nothing? Of course it is, at 112.3° Fahrenheit. And this motif needed such an extremely hot day as yesterday. Because it shows a market scene on an also very hot day in the south of France.

Worpswede

Am Sonntag sind wir dann gut erholt und von der lieblichen Sonne geweckt gen Worpswede gefahren. Dort stellen einige »Worpsweder Malweiber« um 1900 aus. Besonders hat mich das Werk von Käte Lassen beeindruckt, von der ich dort das erste Mal hörte (und sah!).

On Sunday we recovered well and awakened by the gentle rays of sun. We hit the road and came to Worpswede. There some of the »Worpsweder Painting Dames« from around 1900 are promoted in the art halls. Particularly the work of Kate Lassen impressed me. I never heard of her before. Neither had I seen something of her awesome work before.

Heute war Campingtest unseres kleinen VW Womos angesagt und wir sind Richtung Norden auf einen kleinen Campingplatz gefahren. Checken der Technik, reinigen der Ablagefächer und ausprobieren der verbesserten Gimmicks. Himmlische Ruhe, bis auf die abendliche Technoparty (no joke).

Today a short camping test was announced with our little VW camping car and we drove north on to a small campsite. Check the technical stuff, clean the slots and try out the improved gimmicks. Heavenly peace until the evening techno party (no joke).

Poseidons Rache

Nachdem Odysseus sich den Meeresgott zum Feind gemacht hatte, nahm Poseidon fast jede Möglichkeit wahr, ihn zu bestrafen. So erlitt er auf seinen Irrfahrten mehrfachen Schiffbruch. Die Insel Scheria erreichte er nur, weil er den Rat und den Schleier der Meeresgöttin Leukothea annahm und schwimmend den Strand erreichte.

Poseidon's Revenge

After Odysseus had made the god of the sea to his enemy, Poseidon took advantage of almost every opportunity to punish him. So Odysseus suffered multiple shipwrecks . He only reached the island Sheria, because he accepted the advice and the veil of the goddess of the sea Leukothea and reached the beach swimming.

Am Sonntag stand eine kleine Wanderung in den Leineauen nahe Laatzen auf dem Programm. Der Ort liegt etwas südlich von Hannover und man kann hier auf einem renaturierten Kiesabbaugelände zahlreiche Vogelarten (unter anderem viele Störche) entdecken.

Last Sunday it was time for a small hike into the Leine Meadows near Laatzen, a small town just south of Hanover. In a renatured gravel mining area you can discover numerous bird species (including many storks).

So manchen Rempler musste dieser Hochspannungsmast wohl schon aushalten. Heute hatte ich Lust auf eine Szene wie diese. Vielleicht weil ich noch den total verbauten und vollen Parkplatz im hiesigen Großeinkaufszentrum im lokalen Zwischenspeicher (auch Gehirn genannt) hatte.

This pylon had to endure many bumps. Today I felt for a scene like this. Maybe because I still got the miserably installed and totally crowed parking lot of a local mega shopping center in mind.

Beim Fischhändler mussten wir heute länger warten. Dann gab es aber doch noch etwas (natürlich ökologisch-politisch korrektes) Lachsfischlein für uns. Red Snapper ist zu gefährlich.

We had to stand in line @ the fishmonger a bit longer today. But fortunately there still was a nice piece of salmon left for us. (Of course, ecologically and politically correct one.) Red Snapper is too dangerous.

Ein nettes Wald-Ausflugscafé im Harz bei Braunlage. 

Hier haben wir den hausgemachten Abschiedskäsekuchen genossen. Ich habe die Teilnehmer(innen) ganz gut getroffen, wenn auch nicht vollzählig. Blaue Jacken waren keine Pflicht, sondern sind künstlerische Freiheit.

A nice getaway cafe in Harzywood. 

Here we enjoyed eting the home made farewell cheesecake. I guess, I've captured some of the participants pretty well. Notice that blue jackets were not required. Sort of freedom of artistic impression.

Vom Urban Sketching zum Urban Garden ist es hier nur ein kurzer Weg. Unsere Mittwochsgruppe hat sich dort heute getroffen. Es ist ein alternatives Stadtteilgartenprojekt mit dem Namen Pagalino, ein Palettengarten, bei dem alles Mögliche zum Bepflanzen genutzt wird.

Von der Okertalsperre ging es zum Abschluss unseres Harz-Weekends in die alte Kaiserpfalz Goslar. Wie der Regenbogen es andeutet, wurde es von oben her etwas feuchter. 

From the Okertalsperre we finished our Harz weekend in the old Imperial Town of Goslar. Like the rainbow suggests, it was a little wettish from above.

This view down the valley is quite unique. But the diverse population of the area with all kinds of animals, grasses and wildflowers of all colors as well as the beautiful weather were worth the climb. But we were even given preference to paint it ...

Auenlandschaft ca. 40 x 10,5 cm

Gestern waren wir bei strahlendstem Skizzierwetter in der Auenlandschaft unterwegs. Liebliche Landschaften, sich im Wind wiegende Gräser und schwirrende Mücken und Käfer erwarteten uns. Abends gab es ein wundervolles Sonnenuntergangs-Gruppen-Picknick auf dem Hasselkopf.

Yesterday we were out in bright weather sketching in the floodplain. Lovely landscapes, grasses swaying in the wind, buzzing mosquitoes and beetles were awaiting. In the evening there was a wonderful sunset picnic on the Hasselkopf Hill.

The monastery ruins in Walkenried in the Harz has been the target of our yesterday's sketches tour. Our nine people enjoyed the interesting tour, experienced a typical local potatoe food and then we made some more sketches.
