Lange haben wir uns auf den gestrigen Klosterbesuch-Zeichentermin in Marienwerder gefreut. Und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Ein herzlicher Empfang, Aufenthalt und Abschied und auch glücklicherweise »kein Regen«. Die Zeit flog nur so dahin und ließ uns nur einige wenige Ansichten zeichnen. Wir möchten das auf jeden Fall im Herbst wiederholen. 

Ein besonderer Dank der freundlichen und ambitionierten Äbtissin! 

Convent

Since long we have been looking forward to visit the Marienwerder monastery. And we were not disappointed. A warm welcome, stay and departure and fortunately »no rain«. Time was fleeting (as always) and let us draw only a few sketches. We definitely want to repeat this in fall. 

Special thanks to the friendly and ambitioned abbess!

Dieser ist einer der frühen Landschaftsgärten in Deutschland und wurde um 1766 nach den Plänen von J. A. von Hinüber begonnen. Der Garten liegt direkt am Kloster Marienwerder, wo wir ja gestern auch gezeichnet haben.

This is one of the early landscape gardens in Germany and was begun about 1766 according to the plans of J. A. von Hinüber. The garden is located in the vicinity of the monastery Marienwerder, where we have sketch-crawled yesterday.

Ich habe meine Odysseus-Serie wohl etwas vernachlässigt. Aber dieser ließ es sich bei Kirke ja auch ein Jahr lang gutgehen. Schließlich gab sie auch den in Schweine verzauberten Gefährten von Odysseus deren menschliche Gestalt wieder.

Pig Story

oops, I neglectes my Odysseus series a bit. But he indeed got well for a year as Circe's lover. Finally, she re-bewitched the companions from pigs into their human form.

Kein Schmetterling

Ursprünglich war dies als Untermalung für den gestrigen Schmetterling gedacht. Ich fand es aber so auch so »interessant« und habe es so als eigenständiges abstraktes Bild gelassen.

This was originally intended as a underpainting for yesterday's butterfly. I thought it was »interesting« as it was. So I'll leave it as an abstract daily painting.

Well, yes a summer theme. It has come over me with a felt temperature of 113°F in the shade under the roof. (How can you feel 112 degrees?)

Man sollte fast meinen, es gäbe wenig Alternativen zum Zeichnen in Hannover. Aber das Maschseefest hat wieder begonnen und dann trifft man sich eben hier.

If you should'nt know better, you could almost think that there would be little alternative places for drawing in Hanover. But the Maschsee Party started on Wednesday. And then you meet up here.
