Zeit für eine Runderneuerung. Aufgebockt stand das Schiff auf dem mallorquinischen Trockendock. Schon bald drehte sich die Schraube wieder wie gewohnt und alle Schrammen und Beulen waren vergessen.

Ship's Screw 

Time for retreading. Jacked up, I found this ship on a Mallorcan dry dock. 

Soon the screw turned again as usual and all the scrapes and bumps were forgotten.

0892 8-Minuten-Takt

Aufgepasst, Kids: 

Früher, als alles anders war und nur manches besser, durfte man mit solchen schicken Apparaten in voll schwulem Grau, welches an einer begrenzt langen Strippe voll uncool fest mit der Wand verbunden war -ihr ahnt es?- telefonieren! Das nannte man dann Festnetz. Wegen der festen Schnur. Bis 1980 durfte man für 23 Pfennig solange mit jemandem telefonieren, bis der Arzt kam. Als dann der 8-Minuten-Takt eingeführt wurde, bedeutete das für einige Wesen (von denen mir mindestens eins bekannt ist) den Untergang der damals bekannten westlichen Zivilisation. Dieses Wesen nennt sich Frau. Und es sorgt seit der Einführung der Gesprächsbegrenzung auf ein zeitliches Limit für immerwährende und steigende Einkünfte der Telefongesellschaften. Eingeführt hat den Takt ein anderes (wohl sehr taktloses) Wesen: Ein Mann. Auch als Bundespostminister Gscheidle bekannt geworden. Da auch -besonders heute- an mir die Zeichen der Zeit nicht spurlos vorübergehen, gibt es eine gemalte Reminiszens an den guten alten FeTAp 611 (Fernsprech Tisch Apparat Modell 611).

8-minute-pulsing

Watch out, kids : Earlier, when everything was different and only some things better,

you were proud to use such a wonderful and gay equipment in full gray color, which was connected to a limited string, fixed to the wall. You guessed it? It was called telephone. Until 1980, you could talk as long as you turned blue for just 23 cents. When the 8-minute-pulsing was introduced, it meant for some beings (of which at least one is known to me) the downfall of the then known Western civilization. This creature is called woman. Since then it provides an unlimited income for the telephone companies. 

And since the signs of the times do not go unnoticed by me, today I painted a reminiscence to that friendly little devil, the »FeTAp 611« (Fernsprech Tisch Apparat Modell 611).

Werbegeschenk. Gifted.

Nach dem Regen führt uns eine, von matschigen Pfützen gesäumte Gasse zum weniger schönen Teil des Touristenortes. Aber Schönheit liegt bekanntlich im Auge des Betrachters. Und ich finde das Bild diesmal selber »echt schön«.

An alley with many muddy puddles leads to the poorer part of the tourist resort. But beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, as wel all know. And I believe the painting turned out to be»really beautiful«.

Heute stehe ich als Betrachter oben auf dem Leuchtturm von Kap Arkona und schaue durch die umlaufende Reling nach unten. Obwohl ich doch gar nicht schwindelfrei bin. Erinnert mich auch ein wenig an eine Achterbahn.
