Unsere gestrige Zeichenrunde fand in der aktuellen Ausstellung »der schein | glanz, glamour, illusion« statt. Im Vordergrund die Installation von Yayoi Kusama mit 700 glänzenden Metallkugeln. Danach von außen aus dem Café heraus das Museumsgebäude (ein ehemaliges Jugendstil-Schwimmbad).

Yesterday our sketching group took a look around the current exhibition »der schein | glanz, glamour, illusion« (shiny glamourous thingies). In the foreground was the installation by Yayoi Kusama with 700 shiny metal balls. After that I sketched the museum (a former Art Nouveau natatorium). View from a cosy Caféteria.

Für mich immer eine der schwierigsten meiner selbstgestellten Herausforderungen: Ich setze mir ein Zeitlimit für das Gesicht und den Korpus (maximal eine CD-Länge). Der Zeitdruck verhindert eine zu große Detailverliebtheit. Danach male ich dann in 5-6 Minuten die Haare und den Hintergrund fertig.

Today it's already the eighth of my »petitesses«. These paintings are kind of the hardest of my self-imposed challenges. I set myself on a time limit for the face and body (maximum length of a CD). The time pressure prevents to fall in love with the details. Afterwards, I paint the hair and the background in 5-6 minutes.

Einige alte Exemplare dieser Jugendbücher fand ich in einem »Trödelshop für Afrika« im norwegischen Langesund. In den USA ist Nancy angeblich Kult.

Since the nineteen thirties Nancy Drew's adventures are published under the name Carolyn Keene by different authors. I found some really old books in a »Junk Shop for Africa" in Langesund in Norway. In the U.S., Nancy seems to be cult.
